    Teterboro (KTEB) IFR arrival routing?

Flying into Teterboro this upcoming week—IFR in a Piper Arrow. Approaching from the south. Most likely V213 (possibly V123). There are no piston STARs from that direction. Given I don’t know what direction the 3 bravos are landing, anyone know of a most likely routing I’ll get in the terminal...

    Retaining backup CDI

When I upgraded my panel, to include a GTN 650xi, dual G5s, and a GNC 255A, I decided to retain my old analog King KI-209 CDI. I have the guidance from the GNC 255a sent to the KI-209. Like you, I already had the CDI so decided to retain it. I choose to keep it because I liked the idea of my...

Avionics Shop Recommendations - Midwest / Southeast

I had great service, a fair price, and on time with Stark Avionics in early 2020. GTN 650xi, dual G5, GMA 345, GNC 255A, GTX 345, GFC 500, new TC, new VSI, and a couple odds and ends. They were in Columbus, GA then. In Panama City, FL (KECP) now. Different employees, but I'd expect the same service.

Military flight physical as FAA 3rd class

Absolutely the way I’m looking at it. Just checking to see if there was any guidance I wasn’t aware of.

Military flight physical as FAA 3rd class

I've been using the same logic and feel the 4186 is accepted, but some fellow instructors are questioning it. Was just hoping someone had something definitive (ie chief counsel interpretation, etc) FYI, that's been changed for some time now. Ride a bull, fly, skydive... :)

Military flight physical as FAA 3rd class

Just to clarify, this isn't about receiving an FAA pilot certificate through military training (military comp) as allowed in 61.73. It's about using a military flight physical for Part 91 general aviation flights (or part 61 training) requiring 3rd class physicals and wether this exception...

Military flight physical as FAA 3rd class

Thanks for the replies. That's the question, does the FAA see a military student pilot as a military pilot? Also, the military comp doesn't apply in this case. In this case, it's an Army helicopter student wanting to train for their airplane single engine land private. But really the question...

Military flight physical as FAA 3rd class

§61.23 allows military pilots to use their military flight physical for civilian flight in flights not requiring more than a 3rd class. My question is wether this extends to military student pilots that haven’t yet received their wings. In other words, does the military pilot clause in §61.23...

    How accommodating is Orlando ATC?

Couple weeks ago on way to KFPR from southern Alabama. IFR at 9000', my filed/initially cleared route took me directly over KMCO. But I was basically rerouted around the west and south sides of the bravo. Return flight about a week later. IFR at 8000', again filed right over KMCO. Cleared route...

    Garmin Pilot Promo Code

Yeah, this^^^. When I did my panel upgrade, I got somewhere between 1.5 & 2 years Garmin Pilot for free. But that juts tells you how much Garmin stuff I put in my panel. Each piece of avionics came with a certain number of free months and my avionics shop gave me a code for some additional months.

    Why is MedXPress so dumb?

My answers are saved in a note on my computer for just that reason. Copy and paste. Done. But if you think that site stinks, you should see the Army software and hardware I use at work!!!

Flying in Southeast USA (NW FL and GA) in early November

Great time of year to fly in the SE. I'm based in SE AL and am actually flying to Penscola today and then Pensacola to Atlanta tomorrow. Piper Arrow. Not sure what you're flying in, or if VFR or IFR, but a nice time of year to fly in the SE. Barring a front, the skies are generally clear, with...

Wind Indicators - Which Way, the Barbs?

Top pic shows winds from the NE. Be careful with bottom. The wind barbs are oriented referencing your direction of flight. In other words, they show you have a right crosswind. North is not necessarily at the top of the picture. For example, if your flight was to the north, those wind barbs...

    121.5

Thanks. Yeah. I’m aware of its location in DINS. And yes I know they are the same FDC NOTAMs that civilians see, but DINS is for DOD aircrews. That’s where I show it to my civilian students. I just find it odd I can’t find it anywhere, outside of a site for DOD aircrews, since the NOTAM...

    121.5

Yeah. I saw that and I can find it on https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/us_restrictions/fdc_notams/pdf/FDC4-4386_FDC6-8818.pdf But that requires a web search for FDC 4386. And it simply brings up a couple security notices. Was simply hoping to find a way to find it via the FAA’s...

Quick question. Where can I now find the FDC NOTAM requiring guard being monitored? I used to show it to all my trainees and during flight reviews in the NOTAMS publication. But since that is discontinued, I can’t find it anywhere on an FAA website.

    Xen Gel Stent

I have a friend (yes, actually a friend, not me!!) that flies helicopters for pay on a second class medical. His ophthalmologist is recommending Xen gel stents to relieve pressure in his eyes. His AME is in the hospital and unavailable. He'll of course seek his counsel when he's out of the...
