    Thinking about a Bus/RV

huge warning on the electrical ... RV outlets look like 240V (especially 30 amp) but they're not! https://www.rvtalk.net/how-to-wire-a-50-amp-rv-plug/ http://www.myrv.us/Imgs/PDF/30-amp%20Service.pdf

    Snowflakes in July

Do you mean here? or to the complainer? The aircraft (Bonanza) was a CFI and club member, annual club recurrency training - included a couple landings at Boulder, a couple holds outside BJC ... no aerobatics Nope - Bonanza F33A - but yeah, the tow planes diving for the deck after release can...

    Snowflakes in July

I'm not completely unsympathetic, but for a few facts: - Boulder has a long history of professional airplane noise complainers. - the pilot has family who have lived downwind of RWY 8 for 60 years and is VERY aware of noise abatement procedures ... in fact ... - was teaching noise abatement...

    Snowflakes in July

If I wasn't so tired, grumpy, burned out, overworked and just plain unfit to communicate with the populace in general, I could have some fun with this letter we received today (and yes, the airplane being accused of all these shenanigans was actually flying this morning, and did actually fart...

    Thinking about a Bus/RV

Hey Ted, I do get your point about RVing FS camping. When our 3 kids were home, our class C was the best fit for us for traveling, with plenty of room for them to stay entertained and not feel confined. It also had adequate sleeping options.

    Thinking about a Bus/RV

My wife’s uncle bought a Prevost (45’, I believe) maybe 10 years ago, 1 year used then. I think he paid well over $1MM then. Most class A we’ve looked at over the years are configured for no kids or maybe 1 kid. When we camped with our kids, We had a truck camper, HiLo pop up, and a 27’...

    Building a hangar

"A man's gotta know his limitations" ... oh wait, wrong thread. I thought this was the "reply with movie quotes only" thread. :) I'm right there with ya - would be very tempted to take this on myself ... until I honestly assess how many unfinished projects I already have looming over my head.

    [N/A]Wireless head unit for stereo?[N/A]

I got a stereo in a box finished in time for my grandson's birthday, and his dad finally got him to do a show and tell on his radio. https://www.dropbox.com/s/z3q26pkmeszdvk7/Zak-PioneerRadioTour1.mp4?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/8e15tpke21q7r55/Zak-PioneerRadioTour2.mp4?dl=0

    It's an appliance trifecta

Why oh why did you poke the appliance gremlin? Yesterday I get a yell from the laundry room ... "THE DRYER IS BROKEN!" damn damn damn grumble grumble - because my email is full of "the database is broken" from work (in the middle of migrating hundreds of databases to Cloud and have been...

    Caller ID for Iphone

AT&T provides/bundles Call Protect from hiya that seems to do a reasonable job of blocking known spammer numbers. Has the ability to mark a number as BLOCK as well.

Flying your own plane to work

I would be right there with you, my friend! Except we're staying here "because of the grandkids" (or "I would be single if I moved to WY", as much as I would like to be back to some semblance of conservative governance, so it's not happening ... yet).

    Vintage / Retro Computing

I think I had been in computing for a decade before I came across anything even closely resembling something "luggable" - a Compaq Portable 386 I lugged that one from Denver to St. Louis for nearly a year to run Oracle Designer ... well, actually, used it to remote into a microVAX in the...

    Tempest Oil Filter Mess

In automotive, I've also lubed the gasket with engine oil for years ... We're not using the Tempest filters, so I guess I need to verify which filter and that mfg's recommendation. Thanks!

    Tempest Oil Filter Mess

anyone have documentation on "don't lube the filter ring?" as our A&P advocates a light schmear of Dow Corning DC-4 lube on the new ring ... a quick google search brings this article up https://www.avweb.com/ownership/no-muss-no-fuss-oil-changing/ which states (in part) "To prevent sticking of...

(TWM) Two Harbors, MN - North-Up & Marriage

Thanks for sharing! As a kid, we used to make summer trips up the north shore to Grand Marais and then up the Gunflint to spend a week at my grandparent's cabin. Loved the north shore!

Maybe it’s permanent. Grounding that is.

Nate - really glad to read your updates and hear about the ups and downs - but mostly really encouraged to hear about the ups! It wasn't that long ago that there weren't very many ups. Continued prayers for continued improvement, my friend!
