    Buying my first plane PA-32-300

oooh! I just got a quote back from another person saying I just need 10 of dual, including time at or above 90% MG.

    Buying my first plane PA-32-300

Ooh! Can you give me some information on what tires and wheels to look into? I have NO intention of doing backcountry flying for a long time, but maybe in the future after I've got a good 100+ hours in this plane, I'll consider checking out some of the dry lake bed fly-ins or something.

2 killed in plane crash west of Daytona Beach

Dang. Wings falling off is just about the absolute nightmare scenario for flying. :(

    Buying my first plane PA-32-300

Technically, they are asking for 15 of dual, 10 of solo prior to carrying passengers. Out of curiosity, how bad can it get? Out here in sunny california, I imagine the biggest concern is sunlight and maybe dust? We get some rain, but not a lot... I wonder if a covered shelter will be...

*ALMOST THERE* Pre-purchase inspection is in 3 days... But hopefully NEXT FRIDAY I HAVE PLANE.

    Buying my first plane PA-32-300

Both the 182 I have time in, and the Cherokee 6 I'm buying are just HP, not complex. I'm trying to avoid complex due to rumors of increased maintenance (EDIT: and insurance!) costs for retractable landing gear. I'm super excited to be able to just toss everyone on board and go fly. And get...

    Buying my first plane PA-32-300

I had to buy a house and do a bunch of other stuff before I could do this, but now I am finally in the process of buying my first plane, a 1977 Cherokee 6 300. It looks like a great plane, though we'll see the reality of that this Friday when I get the pre-buy done. I'm going to be keeping the...

Trying to find W&B for Cherokee 6

Thank you so much! Got it now! This is exactly what I was looking for!

Trying to find W&B for Cherokee 6

The numbers aren't on there, just the diagram. I can estimate from the diagram though, which probably should be good enough for what I'm doing.

Trying to find W&B for Cherokee 6

This is great! Do you have the data for the envelope definitions on there? The forward and aft limits?

Trying to find W&B for Cherokee 6

I've heard that, too. I originally started out all gaga over the 1700 pounds useful load in the 260, but I'm realizing I could shave some off that and enjoy the shorter takeoff and better performance of the 300, and probably still get all the use cases I'm interested in having.

Trying to find W&B for Cherokee 6

Interestingly, the W&B is not included in the POHs for the 260 that I've found online. It has a section that just says "Make sure you do W&B!" and references a separate document.

Trying to find W&B for Cherokee 6

I'm about to start seriously pursuing purchasing an airplane in the next month or two. I'm trying to decide between the Cherokee 6/260 and Cherokee 6/300 right now, and want to see how various missions I might run will fit into both. I know both are haulers, but I want to get a good picture of...

    Near miss on final video

Half the reason I linked to this video here is because of that. I'm curious what the full story is, if we can get it. :)

    Near miss on final video

Pretty much. Surprised to see them get so close, though. I'd think the overtaking pilot might notice the big plane underneath them...

    Transient pickup at SJC

I live in Santa Clara. I pulled those numbers off of google maps. :dunno: Sounds like just sticking with KPAO is a good idea. Maybe I'll do a little bit of pattern work to do my best to make sure the flight won't need to be scrubbed.

    Transient pickup at SJC

KRHV is actually slightly further away than KPAO. KSJC is only 14 minutes away, while KPAO is 23 minutes and KRHV is about 26 minutes. This is a small improvement on distance. It's more about making things a little more convenient while getting a test flight before our "real" flight, and...

    Transient pickup at SJC

A friend of mine is celebrating her 40th birthday, and my friends and I are surprising her with a visit to the Exotic Feline Breeding Compound in Rosamond, CA this Saturday. I'm offering to fly her and another friend down to add to the fun and surprise of it all, but there's a few concerns...
