    Cirrus down in Truckee

depends on the parachute type. round chutes have slower descend rates. As slow as <5m/s depending on many factors. They have the slowest descend rates. The bigger the chute and the lower the weight- the slower it descends. Can’t really flair or steer them. Only a little bit to help with the...

    [NA]AWD vs FrontWD[NA]

Lexus GX and LX are specifically Toyota Land Cruisers dressed up for US to compete with Range Rover/Discovery. Very capable and very common off-roaders around the world. I wouldn't get it for 99% on-road use. LX is actually pretty nice on-road, but it's very expensive and very thursty

    [NA]AWD vs FrontWD[NA]

I wouldn’t buy one. Unless you really like old school stuff. It’s overpriced, underpowered, very old, very thirsty, and very ugly. But it will probably outlive human civilization. Just my personal opinion of course...

    [NA]AWD vs FrontWD[NA]

issue? Maybe not, but in light snow/rain mix or on patchy icy road full time 4WD is a lot better than part time that you cannot turn on due to lack of center diff. Can you deal with it, sure, but it’s definitely not preferable deep snow, part time is fine Edit: also, part time/full time 4WD...

    [NA]AWD vs FrontWD[NA]

tires are a huge consideration. One can easily overdo it too. Tires that are great in snow/ice are not as great and can be outright bad in dry above freezing. So it’s a bit of a guess at what works best for specific type of weather and driving

    [NA]AWD vs FrontWD[NA]

Ah. That makes sense. 4Runner is basically a passenger Tacoma. Simple part time 4WD. It’s not the best for on-road snow. Mostly because In changing conditions you have to constantly shift in and out of it

    [NA]AWD vs FrontWD[NA]

I don’t think any Highlander has a conventional part time 4WD. I think hybrids have “split drive”: ICE drives front, electric rear. I guess if it can be put into EV mode it becomes 2wd? I’m not sure though

    [NA]AWD vs FrontWD[NA]

The very simplistic(because details do matter) view on what’s better in snow/ice for road vehicles: RWD<FWD<4WD<AWD Open diff<limited slip diff<3way limited slip/locking diff All season tires<winter tires<studded winter tires some of these are too aggressive for some winter climates and are...

    [NA]AWD vs FrontWD[NA]

This is a good, if long, read about all different AWD systems. Very detailed https://jalopnik.com/how-all-wheel-drive-works-a-ridiculously-detailed-tech-1846233533

    172S for the win

I feel you. I really do. This is easy with cars. Market is massive. You can make it as a boutique company that sells even a few dozen desirable toys. And still, many do not make it. Similar with boats. Piston planes - it is really, really hard. Market is microscopical, yet stakes are...

    172S for the win

Oh, but it does though. If something is sold in numbers larger than the rest for a long time(so as to resolve all the potential unknown issues and marketing bs) it is actually a pretty good definition that it is "good" and maybe even "best" by the best standard: consumers paying with their own...

    172S for the win

I resent the implication that Camry is garbage. Mind you, I really do not like Camrys. But I think - end evidently many others do to - that It's a nearly perfect car for a huge number of people in this country. And that is to get up to 4-5 adults from point A to point B with good comfort...

    172S for the win

I get what you are saying. Cirrus has built about 7500 SR planes. With all that Toyota-esq production plan, I seriously doubt that their production costs are significantly lower than Cessna's. Or that Cessna could lower its cost by a significant margin on each 172 without a prohibitive...

    172S for the win

Ok, I'll accept the schooling and will fall upon my ESL roots as my defense. :). I perfectly understand why they are charging what they are charging. I just don't have to like it :)

    172S for the win

In a way that each new plane is very, very expensive. I said nothing about their profits or being offended by it. Let's not read anything extra into my statement.
