    Monitor Ground

This went PoA in a hurry but I have my answer, thank you fellow aviators. Monitoring to me didn't register that it would now be my active freq. I have my ground freq as my standby in Radio 1 if they say contact ground and I had it loaded in radio 2 if they said monitor ground. But now I'll...

    Monitor Ground

I feel like I should know this but it's always kinda bugged me that I don't know for sure... But when landing at my preferred towered airport which is a rather sleepy Delta, the same controller will broadcast on Tower and Ground freqs. So after landing, I'll get taxi instructions to parking...

Planes that should have been built

Doesn't the Turbo Arrow and the Turbo Dakota use the same powerplant?

First time in the clouds and I gave up

Pilot Edge really helped me with dealing with the ATC side of the house but I TOTALLY agree. Flying in the clouds during training was fun and humbling. Flying in the clouds the first time without another pilot in the left seat (had my two girls on board) was a VERY different matter.

Question about use of throttle during Lazy 8s

This. As the weather gets cooler performance will increase too. I find my pitch up in cooler weather doing Lazy 8s is more pronounced to find that break. The Finer Points YouTube channel has an excellent demonstration on Lazy 8s. But in terms of power, I usually do them at 2300 rpm in a 172...

No TSA Checkpoints at more than 2500 GA Airports! Annd here we go

"Florida agents found two prop jets that landed in tandem in an orange grove northwest of Orlando in 2010 with $800,000 worth of marijuana." Prop Jets?

    Shooting ILS with accuracy

For GS, I know that a 3* glide slope at 90kts Ground Speed is going to be 450fpm descent. So I'll fly 90kt IAS, dial in my 450fpm on the VSI adjust from there cross checking my VSI against my Glide Slope. Once you have that rate dialed in, it's easier to make small adjustments using your six...

Minimum IFR climb rate - C182

I always thought IFR climb rate was calculated based on feet per nm. Is that only really applicable for ODPs and such?

IFR Current - Spacial D freakout

I hear that more in a 182 than a 172. The Skylane does have a certain song she sings in the clouds.

IFR Current - Spacial D freakout

I 'thought' I was on instruments and prepped but I guess I maybe was moving my head more than I thought. When cleared down prior to the approach, I knew I was about to fly into a thick stratus with scattered cumulus layer so I was absolutely on instruments and focused well before entering the...
