    Best Glide in an RG

That was my feeling as well, I just wanted to make sure since it could be asked in an emergency landing scenario

    Best Glide in an RG

Hi all - Flying a 172RG for a checkride coming up. Looking thru the POH, it has numbers listed for best glide and emergency landing airspeeds. What it doesn't indicate is if best glide is calculated with the wheels up or down. Through experience, the plane is VERY draggy with the gear out so...

Piper PA28 EXPERIENCES HEAVY WAKE TURBULENCE | Emergency Lands at JFK

Early on he was cleared below the bravo, halfway thru he was cleared into the bravo at or below 1900 but he was already in the approach corridor. If he was cleared over the threshold of 4R/4L there would have been no impact to the approach and no wake.

Piper PA28 EXPERIENCES HEAVY WAKE TURBULENCE | Emergency Lands at JFK

They all handled that well. Would have been nice of the controller to let the Piper over-fly the threshold at 1900 rather than 3 miles west but I'm sure they had their reasons...

Instrument Training - Is Simulator Needed?

I built my own (see my avatar) and used PilotEdge.net extensively during my instrument training. Saved me lots of $$ in training and is an amazing proficiency tool.

IFR Current - Spacial D freakout

I did much of my IFR training at night (winter and I work 9-5) so I did experience SD under the hood but yeah...in the daytime, having the shadows on the panel alone is enough to dispel any serious SD.

    Struggling with lazy 8s

Yep, his video on Lazy 8s really made it click for me. I was tying to fly it by the formula described in the PHOAK. Pick reference points, bank 5 degrees, pitch up 5, until at the 45 degree marker, increase bank to 30 degrees and pull back yada yada yada. WAY too complicated. Another thing...
