    New Cub - XCub

I'd buy a Super STOL and have money left for a boat. Then I would have two rather useless, but fun, toys:)

    Upwind Pattern Entry

I go to OSH 2 days before the official start and spend the first 3 days drinking beer and watching arrivals. It gets very hairy at times and also entertaining. Two I can remember from last year was an Archer bouncing it about 5 times(didn't prop strike it or break the nosewheel...

    Upwind Pattern Entry

All this arguing over nothing, and every time I've been in and around a busy pattern, the pilots work it out without a fight breaking out on the ground afterwards. I do a 45 entry 90% of the time, crosswind entry 5% and straight-in 5%. I've also extended my downwind to accommodate a...

    New Cub - XCub

I guess I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion but speed-wise, they are talking 140-145 MPH and my friend's J model cruises at 165 knots. EDIT - You said your Mooney. Missed that. Reading ability, I don't have it today! Unless you're talking about something other than speed. It's a...

    Post Your Hangar Pics

Nothing too fancy. Out of view is a small fridge that stays stocked with water and beer.. Nothing is better than a cold one after a flight is over. Also a desk and a couple shelves in the hidden corner.

AIM Change - Use of GPS inside the FAF of a conventional approach

According to the cite in the OP, you can't do that unless you're monitoring the VOR with another CDI.

Examiner punched a hole in my license!!

That is a good point! Maybe I will punch a hole in it anyways.

Examiner punched a hole in my license!!

Congratulations! I got mine last week. The examiner did not ask for my certificate to punch a hole in. I'm fine with that, as I want to save it unscathed:)

My Long Solo XC Nightm.. uh, Adventure!

Very enjoyable read. I had a few of those moments on my long XC as a student too... Looking back, I laugh at them, but at the time, I thought I might die. As someone else said, things happen. They're going to happen on every flight... But, as you gain experience, the way you deal with them...

    Archer vs c172 flight controls

Keeping the yoke shafts clean and lubed does make a huge difference I've found. It's probably not as bad as I state. But I've flown 3 Archers and the forces on the stab(particularly what's needed in terms of backpressure to rotate) are heavier.

    Icon laying off employees....

Oh, well valid point, I guess you can put bush tires on the A5. Wait, no you can't. The CC is a much more versatile aircraft, and that's not disputable. Of course they're both overpriced, impractical toys. I don't think I said otherwise.

    Archer vs c172 flight controls

This is correct, but I can attest that the feel is much heavier than that of a 172. I don't know if it's the antiservo tab or what, or maybe it's just linkage/pulley design differences. But it's definitely heavier feeling.

1963 Piper Cherokee - Any thoughts on this one?

I think that is probably why I'd hate it, because of what i'm used to. Starting from scratch, it probably won't bother anyone that much.

What would you buy: $57k edition

On second thought, I'd snap this one up immediately. If there's nothing major wrong with it, it's an enormous steal. https://www.barnstormers.com/cat.php?mode=listing&main= WAAS GPS, autopilot with GPS steer and altitude hold, GTX327, engine monitor, KX155 for a 2nd, 600 since major, decent...

What would you buy: $57k edition

This one might be worth a look, if you can stretch your budget or talk the buyer down a bit... http://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Single+Engine+Piston&make=PIPER&model=CHEROKEE+180&listing_id=1745287&s-type=aircraft

1963 Piper Cherokee - Any thoughts on this one?

Well, he did say no deposits without a down payment(which I'd assume is refunable), so he's probably trying to avoid giving free rides to tire kickers. Nice airplane, I myself am a fan of a standard 6-pack layout for instrument flying with the CDI nearby instead of on the other side of the...

    Icon laying off employees....

You make some good points but the Carbon Cub is going to be MUCH more versatile than the A5. It can do rough and short field operations and also has a climb rate that the A5 couldn't dream of matching.
