In my experience it's usually the old guys in the NORDO airplanes that really do the dumb stuff... They don't follow standard pattern entry procedures, don't look when they take the runway, cut you off in the pattern, etc etc...

Scenario: Flight plan is airport-vor-vor-airport. The second VOR is within say 3-5 miles of the destination airport. You lose coms prior to reaching the first VOR. I understand what to do up to the point that I get to the second VOR.. troubleshoot radios, squawk 7600, fly my route and the...

I'd pay for the time I put on the airplane and nothing more in the case of a failure that made it un-airworthy(read-not my fault).

$75 more a month to protect it from the elements, sun baking the paint, windows and interior, birds and rodents potentially nesting in it, other airplanes or ramp equipment hitting it? No brainer:)

Cirrus is a no-brainer out of those choices. Find one that's had a recent chute repack.

I do think it's stupid, but the law is there, not following it has consequences. Quite a simple concept to understand for most.

Or just have a sectional plotter, overlay it on the chart... much faster and easier especially in turbulence. I do like all the symbology and landmarks. Sometimes I will just fly around aimlessly and try to compare my position on the sectional with the ground, and see if I can spot the town...

That or I will wait to see what the total cost of the new Dynon EFIS will be including the STC. It's also an attractive option.
