Pilot arrested for DUI blows .00

Ran into one of these situations several years ago in a small Indianapolis suburb, going home late at night. Pulled over for nothing after leaving a bar pool tournament. When he said he was going to give me a breathalyzer, I laughed and told him “You know you pulled over the only guy in the bar...

    Muncie Indiana (KMIE)

Kind of a sad ending, really. Went there several times pre-covid, good sausage gravy. Great to sit out on the patio on a nice morning. Tower could get a little salty about run ups, as I remember. The building was put up to be the “New” airport terminal when Muncie still had commercial service...

Flight planning assistance: Bozeman, MT to Prescott, AZ in a C172

Having just come through there in the last couple of weeks, I would suggest Ogden as the stop. Ground can help set you up for the whichever happens to be the best VFR transition around SLC, east or west depending on the winds. Plenty of wide open spaces for an emergency going down the west side.

    Reno midair

The bleeding edge of the bleeding edge of technology has always been a dangerous place to be. How many died to bring us the Jet age? Unfortunately, great rewards often come at great risk to those pioneering it.

    Reno midair

Damn.... Not a good day for the Flying Community. I spoke with one of them at lunch on Thursday. This was an almost perfect event right up to then, even the weather could not have been better.

Operations Threshold to Establish a Tower

Anderson is a weird case, as is KMIE Muncie just down the road, for the same reasons. Many moons ago, the two major companies based in town required an active tower for their corporate operations. KAID had scheduled corporate shuttles, and even a scheduled 135 passenger operation to Detroit...

Talk me out of the Ford Panther platform (NA, obviously)

We gave our daughter our old Smart Car (2009) that was in very good shape to take to college. She actually cried, she did not want to be seen in it. About six weeks later I get a call out of the blue thanking me for making her take it. Turns out she is about the only freshman that can park on...

    LSA reality check

At least as far as my LSA is concerned, if you try to horse it around like you would a 172, it is going to bite you in the ass, especially at low speeds. The SC requires minimal stick inputs.

    LSA reality check

Four years+ with my Sportcruiser, and I gotta say I LOVE this bird. Roomy, well-equipped, amazingly stable, and most important of all, cheap to own and fly (comparatively… like anything in aviation is cheap?), and able to do the vast majority of my current missions. Do I miss the Sundowner at...

City of Portage trying to close AIrport C47

This is troubling… This is the closest airport to Endeavor Bridge. Stopped there in 2022 for gas, and to wait until the madness subsided a bit. I am sure others use it as an alternate as well. Walked over to some diner off the main drag for lunch. if you look east of the airport, there are a...

Coming soon: New corporate hangars at FTY

IIRC, Didn't they at one time propose to turn the whole place into "Low-Cost Housing"? While I would love to see rows of T-Hangars that they could no doubt fill up in Atlanta, it is the Jets that pay the bills. These companies don't make payroll selling us gas 8 Gallons at a time.

Coming soon: New corporate hangars at FTY

Congratulations... Stopped by there a few years ago to look at an aircraft I was considering purchasing. From what I recall, the surrounding area was... sketchy, and that would be understated. I am told that a portion of that has moved on from the area these days, because they bulldozed some of...

    EarthX STC approved!

For a light sport however, that can be a significant savings in weight, if you can make it work out on the w&b.

Tug for moving 15-20 C172s every morning

I’d suggest this, but with a gas cart. Electric Is nice, but not for all day, everyday use. Or when operated by idiots…

Port of Coupeville Buying KOKH (Update: Now Owned by Robert DeLaurentis Instead)

If you want the town to step up and buy the airport immediately for airport use with little opposition, just remind them that the Feds now require a certain percentage of any new development (around 15-20% of units) to be set aside as low-cost housing, and that the area will be “enlightened” by...

    See You in Oshkosh 2023!

Unless I can find someone going up for day, overnight, or even just a one-way ride from Central Tennessee (HAPPY to pay my share!), this will be the first year I have missed a show since 2003. Kinda bummed, but just no spare time this year.
