Ok so if I get someone rated for the plane and night current they can act as PIC while I do my 3 landings. They don’t need to be a CFI….

    Night currency with co pilot?

I have lots of hours in my plane (Seneca 3) but still haven’t flown at night in it. Getting CFIs these days with multi currency willing to do night flying is very hard. is it legal to get my 3 TOs and landings with a fellow pilot and owner of the plane? Figured they know the plane well enough...

    Figuring out notam location

so it’s coded in degrees and you have to convert it to decimal to map it? The leading zero on the longitude threw me off but I got same as you. Why does NY center have a notam for something way outside their airspace? but the answer to my original question is notam locations are coded in...

KLOM KTTN KJFK HTO KBID 45° TO 24 (1,054') 32.428/-76.7 KHYA Rwy 24 I thought it might be ForeFlight so I did a notam search at faa and saw same thing there….

    Figuring out notam location

I’m preparing for a flight tomorrow in North East and there is a notam that says ads-b and tis-b may not be available. I’m assuming this is in an specific area and not a big deal. But in interest in learning how to read a notam detail I can’t for the life of me decode the location… KZNY ZNY...

Approved holding pattern aid for IFR test

Hi - I just signed up for my IFR written and the online system said something about me being allowed to bring a “holding pattern entry aid”. I googled around and didn’t see any references to this. can I just print out the standard diagram that has the different entries per the headings? Not a...

    Porpoise after landing

Yea I think you are right. When I started training in my plane I noticed similar, but much much less, motion on take off. Then I realized I was putting forward pressure on The yolk to keep it on the ground until Rotation speed. I must not had enough back pressure all the way through round out.

Buying Seneca iii, lower time pilot. Insurance cost?

I got a Seneca 3 with 3 other pilots. IF you can even get insurance I bet it’s over 10k for a while. Once you cross 50 multi it might get better. I think 100 in type will get you back down closer to 5k that’s my educated WAG

    Overcoming extreme nervous/irrational fears

I’m gonna pile on - if u want this just stick with it and it’s just a matter of time. If it takes another 100 hours who cares? You are still flying and having fun. I don’t buy that “some people can’t fly”. Do something enough and your brain will get used to it.

    Porpoise after landing

It was a gusty day so maybe 5kts more than normal. That would keep me floating but after touch down maybe I still had some energy?

    Porpoise after landing

Today I came in to land in a relatively normal approach. My flare was uneventful from what I remember but after I touched down my plane started to go up and down a bit and after 3 of those it got so significant that I gunned it and just went around. im well aware of a classic bounced landing...

Time zones and Daylight savings in AF/D

So.... - in winter it’s 1600-8000 = 8am local time - in summer it’s 1600-7000 = 9am but then apply ++ and it’s 8am I’m other words just ignore the DT and ++ as the tower is always open at 8am regardless. The -7DT is there as a convenience to set your watch when you land. The ++ is a reminder...

Time zones and Daylight savings in AF/D

I have a feeling this is often asked but my search didn’t resolve my confusion.... In the AF/D entry for an airport it shows the local time conversion such as UTC-8(-7 DT). Then in the rest of the entry it might show when the tower is operating with the Zulu time (1400-0600++) with the plus...

    Seeing wrong test questions

I used dauntless software and very happy with it. The interface could use a refresh but I liked the explanations and they have a nice option to submit clarifying questions or challenge their answers.

    Seeing wrong test questions

Passed my written commercial today with a 92pct - which i am happy with but would really like to see which questions I got wrong. I used dauntless for prep and was please with it and really poured over the 1000 questions they provide. Thing is on the actual test it seemed like a lot of...

How to ease nerves flying solo? (Commercial student)

I can empathize as I’m working on my commercial for last 6 months but also struggle(ed) with a same stuff you describe. Everyone has already said it but I’ll reinforce - need to push yourself slowly and in steps to go do more solo and with non pilot passengers. For me I could fly with a CFI in...
