Have you ever spent six hours with your underwear on backwards?

    Compression too high?

The test typically performed on aircraft with reciprocating engines is called "differential compression test" by the FAA: https://www.faasafety.gov/spans/noticeView.aspx?nid=3416 It is very similar to what the automotive world calls a "cylinder leakdown test"...

How much ethanol is too much

It is because a heat pump does not "generate" heat, it just moves it from the outside of the building to the inside. They are rated by Coefficient of Performance or COP. This is defined as (effective energy out)/(energy in). A typical COP (older unit) is 3. This means that for every kWh...

Please help me pick my second motorcycle

Can you cite a law or regulation pertaining to that? RCA was in a similar situation in 1984 when they stopped producing the Video Disk Player. I remember my boss talking about a 10 year rule-of-thumb for support to completely avoid bad PR/lawsuits. RCA ended up promising disk production for...

    Why switched grounds?

It would really be fun if you have a permanent magnet starter installed. Not to mention any catch diodes placed across relay/contactor coils.

Coax antenna to Onkyo receiver with HDMI

I am amazed that any AV receiver would not have RCA inputs. What model number is it?

Coax antenna to Onkyo receiver with HDMI

Does your TV have analog audio outputs (either 3.5mm phone or RCA) that you could connect to your receiver? That is what I used to hook up an external amp/speakers to my TV and it works fine. I had to go into the TV settings and turn the built-in speakers off.

Took off on one mag accidentally - did I hurt my engine?

Fact: A stock Milwaukee Eight has a bore almost identical to a "small bore" Continental O-200 or O-300.

    Strange mag issue

It is very hard to imagine how a conventional magneto could output short bursts of around 122 MHz to activate the ARCAL receiver, especially since it is presumably in normal operating condition. I would be inclined to write this off as a troll or joke, but Magman's posts have been...

    NA Where's my coolant going?

My daughter's 2006 Chevy HHR had very similar symptoms as the OP. It was quite the PITA to diagnose. No external leaks, no sweet smell in the exhaust, oil and coolant looked OK, cylinder leak down was fine, cooling system pressure test OK. Eventually it dawned on me that the leak might be too...

    O’scope

Not quite. The 453 had vacuum tube HV rectifiers: https://w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/453 Then, of course, the display was a CRT or Cathode Ray Tube which was used until the mid 1990s. I have a working 535A (circa 1960) at home but it is such a boat anchor (65 lbs) that I rarely use it; easier to...

    O’scope

It will cost more, but a 150MHz scope can be handy for checking output and modulation depth on the COM transmitter.

RPM/Performance decrease after cylinder replacement & carburetor rebuild

Some one needs to check whether the throttle is opening all the way. There should be about 1/8" gap between the throttle knob and the panel when the throttle is pushed in all the way. If no gap, then there is a good chance it was not rigged properly when the carb was re-installed.

    Pocket knife: Weird or normal?

For many years I have carried a Swiss Army "Spartan" because it is cheap, compact, and includes a corkscrew, bottle opener, and can opener among other tools.

The cheapest Harbor Freight digital meter is about as good for accuracy as the AVOmeter/Simpson 260/Triplett 630 analog VOMs commonly used back in the day.
