I flew my Grumman Tiger to explore the San Andreas fault the other day. It's only fitting that I posted this video Friday, the same day after I was awoken at 4:30 in the morning by an earthquake, whose epicenter was right at my home airport!!

Fun video as usual Eric. I've flown into Agua Caliente in my Tiger and encountered a very similar situation. In my case, upon arrival winds were favoring rwy 11, so I had to make that awkward approach next to the mountain. First attempt was a go-around. The second was "fun" but worked out fine...

In full transparency, that thumbnail was photoshopped. LOL If I remember correctly it was a pretty standard aviation fuel nozzle.

GoPro and DJI both make quality cameras. I’ve always used GoPros. For the best audio, I recommend using a dedicated audio recorder. I actually just made a video that talks about this stuff:

We had the Thunderbirds flyover today here in Los Angeles. I watched it and typically enjoy these kinds of things, but honestly it was pretty underwhelming. It just seemed like a waste of resources.

Kern Valley doesn't have fuel. As far as cheap fuel goes, perhaps you are thinking about Inyokern. This weekend they were selling AvGas for $1.19/gal!!!!! I filled up my plane for 39 bucks!!

I use a hard shell pelican case with foam cutouts in the inside.

I think you're gonna have a hard time finding a decent candidate with IFR GPS (what about ADSB?) with most on that list within that budget. Maybe a Sundowner/Musketeer? I don't know much about those. I know I'm biased, but I really think the Tiger sounds like a good compromise for what you want...

A fedex pilot chimed in on reddit and said business is good and most of those planes are being phased out for more fuel efficient jets. Glad you liked the video!
