    Lance, Rockwell 114, or TB20?

^^^This Good friend had a 112TC, his wife loved it for the two doors, spacious cabin up front, windows. He got his head turned by a very nice, totally redone Mooney M20E in a short skirt and sold the Rockwell. She refuses to ride in the Mooney. At all. However, if you have two toddlers and...

    Thinking About a DeLorean

Looks very retro with those doors, square headlamps and the straight line interior.

    172S for the win

    ?? o_O The DA42 isn't a single. It's called the Twin Star for a reason...

    I’m crazy. Bought a 172 yesterday

We fly the ones in our FTU so much that we've just not had problems. Our Lycomings rarely ever need anything beyond routine consumables (oil/filters/plugs/etc) between overhauls and our engines almost always go past the TBO without issue. But we tend to log 900 to 1200 hours per year on each...

    Landing tail low?

^^^ This. I do wheel landings tail low, but not the same attitude as a 3-point, of course. Once the mains touch the stick goes forward to reduce the AOA and plant the mains, and only after that does the tail come down. That's the way I was taught, and it seems to work. For me.

    I’m crazy. Bought a 172 yesterday

The 'N' seems the most preferred in the flight training units. Of our now thirteen 172s all but two are 'N's.

Zero carbon emissions for major airline -- Do you think this is achievable? If so, how?

Ya, you're right. After all we're still trying to figure out "Why Aircraft Engines Quit?", "Do pilots still navigate?" and what's a negative tip. So there are many things left to achieve. ;)

    Landing tail low?

I notice this more on the grass, but as a comparatively low time tailwheel pilot (compared to a lot of you folks here!) I notice the "slightly first with the tailwheel" landings tend to pull and line the airplane up straight if there's any remaining hint of a crab in a crosswind, before the...

Zero carbon emissions for major airline -- Do you think this is achievable? If so, how?

And if you want to run such a contest I bet all of the rest of us here can collectively name 100 things achieved for every one of yours not achieved. Without trying hard.

Zero carbon emissions for major airline -- Do you think this is achievable? If so, how?

I don't know if it's achievable, but betting against it being achieved is a bet against human ingenuity. And historically that's been a poor odds wager.

    I’m crazy. Bought a 172 yesterday

Two Cessnas. It's going to be a dilemma which one to fly first each day. :D Congrats!

    My favorite new install kit

I think those of us fortunate to grow up and go to college in resource development regions, such as the PNW, might have perhaps got more of that than the brainy MIT and CalPoly types. ;) I was on a visit to WWU in Bellingham in the late 1970s and the engineering department there had built a...

    Such luxury!

The DC-8 I flew back on across the Atlantic in May 1965 wasn't much different. We departed London Heathrow and had to make a fuel stop at Prestwick, Scotland (Glasgow) to have enough fuel and reserves to get to Gander. These were both tiny airplanes even compared to the noticably longer...

    My favorite new install kit

This is a bit of a stereotype. I am a Mech Eng, graduated in the 1970s. There were 4 or 5 of us in my class that were serious petrol-heads/hot-rodders and spent much time modifying, competing, breaking and desperately fixing our sports cars so we could make it to class on Monday morning...

    My favorite new install kit

There's two ways youngsters can deal with that...buy an airplane, or buy a Jaguar. If you didn't have a good set of tools when you started, you will by the time you're done. ;)

    Darned Road Alligators

Sorry to hear about this kyleb. Good it was just the car and not something more serious. @denverpilot and I have just had our weird habit of driving used pick up trucks and SUVs with excessive mileage vindicated (although I think Nate got himself a shiny newer Suuubie, didn't he?) We just don't...

    Such luxury!

There was a bit more to it than that. 50 years ago most airlines were national carriers, either owned by their national governments or granted protected monopoly routes by the government regulators. Think of all the airlines that used to exist, one for every little nation in western Europe for...
