Did anyone else buy a BD-5D? "Guaranteed $4,400!!!"

I'd pull his spark plugs and blast them while you're at it...

    Auction Super Deal C172N

Depends on what you value your own time at. And prices for everything to complete such a plane, such as those lovely integrated PDF screens and radios, are also rising now.

    Auction Super Deal C172N

Demand for 172s for flight training continues to be high. That is probably where this one will end up; as a revenue generator. Finding a "turnkey" airplane is challenging at the moment, and the very best low time airframes go for a real premium and don't stay on the market more than a day or...

Stinging Insect Rant (N/A... well sort of... they do fly)

Overhead break. Anything else would be unacceptable for an insect with armaments.

    Aztec issues?

Here's a couple of threads with some operating cost info for piston twins that may be useful: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/first-year-costs-to-run-a-310r.85587/ https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/light-twin-owning-and-operating-costs.89350/ If you have any...

    Maxwells magneto service

Ya, I thought those 500 hour magneto service intervals were excessive and unnecessary too. ;) . . . Kidding. I'm KIDDING. :fingerwag:

    Aztec issues?

Here's a few older threads the OP might want to peruse, before we write all this stuff up all over again. :D https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/piper-aztec.91402/#post-2045729...

Did anyone else buy a BD-5D? "Guaranteed $4,400!!!"

The fellow who owns the hangar where I rent space for my Husky now has three BD5 projects on the go. The most advanced is a former flying airplane with the customary Honda engine. It'll probably be back in flyable condition this summer. The second is a well advanced project but the first...

    Headset Recommendation?

If you are going to wire up your own microphone why not just use a set of standard consumer earbuds - the kind the kids use for music?

    DarkAero Aircraft

I don't think enough people give this consideration. This has always been one important factor in my choice of airplanes to own. It's one of the reasons I elected to go with an Aztec as a first twin. I am unconcerned about giving up some cruise speed for those times when the weather is crap...

    Landing tail low?

My Husky A1 POH doesn't have a wheel landing procedure for any circumstance. (That hasn't stopped me from doing them, but it's the exception)

First propeller bolt pulled and not looking good

All signs of a prior owner that fashioned himself a qualified airplane mechanic but wasn't. Not uncommon, unfortunately. You'll have the satisfaction of knowing the plane is sound, reliable and safe to fly when you are done.

    DarkAero Aircraft

The UL is a direct drive engine I believe. Suggests a rather small diameter prop to keep the tip speeds acceptable. Does anybody know if the three have any experience in aircraft design?

Spark Plugs To Blast or Not to Blast

I have a Champion spark plug cleaner/tester. After using a dental pic to carefully (carefully!) remove the lead deposits I blast, but not for more than 1 to 2 seconds. That's all that I've ever needed, then regap, test and put 'em back in. If you are running a Lycoming note the most recent...

Black Jelly Bean Rant [N/A obviously]

I suspect if we tried to sustain ourselves on sustainable salt we'd have yet another commodity shortage... Black coffee, taildraggers...and Jelly Bellys.

    172S for the win

This is a complete mischaracterization. They didn't suddenly "learn" this. And there wasn't any "dumping of philosophy" - it was unemotional, hard nosed, demand driven and deliberate business decisions. The economy and the market is dynamic, ever changing. Any company that wants to survive...
