    Twin or Single

"...In the end statistics don't matter, what matters is single engine pilots getting and maintaining proficiency in their airplanes. Unfortunately, pilots haven't been very good at attaining or maintaining the proficiency necessary to make single engine airplanes as safe as they should be...

    Latest/Greatest un sound deadening material?

Keep in mind that some of the best sound deadening materials are flammable and emit toxic fumes when they burn. I've seen a lot of stuff put in airplanes that wouldn't pass a minimal safety standard. Out of sight, out of mind. Until...

    Twin or Single

There are many threats that face every airplane on takeoff and climb out. The Snowbirds lost both a jet and one of their members on takeoff/climbout last year from Kamloops. No one is immune. Lots of single engine pilots have screwed up the response to a engine failure during the initial...

    Twin or Single

I am having a little trouble with your math. How is it that replacing the windshield plate on a FIKI twin makes the plane cost 4X more annually compared to replacing the windshield plate on a FIKI single? BTW, after 9 years of owning a twin Piper that is much more capable than any of the prior...

    Twin or Single

LOL. Blanket statements, most of which can be refuted if you actually talk to someone who owns and flies one. But then again, there might be some truth to this. My take off and landing speeds, and my ground rolls, in the twin are definitely higher than my Husky. ;)

Welcome to the PoA zoo! Please don't feed the wild animals. Also, pictures of the airplane you are flying are mandatory (even if it isn't a Bonanza and has a high wing). ;)

Four killed in Hattisburg crash, 5/4/2021

This flight appears to have been inbound to land at Hattiesburg, Mississippi. RIP "USM officials said a student at their university was related to the three who died, and they were coming to Hattiesburg to attend Wednesday’s commencement ceremony."

    Well it finally happened- almost!

Man, I've seen this story repeated sooooo many times. I think in Texas they call these types of airplane owners "Big Hat (airplane), No Cattle (gas money)". I'm thinking about stripping stuff out of the Husky to simplify it and lighten it up. It really should be a day VFR airplane.

how much does a turbine cost

Geez, you let him get his hands on two throttles connected to a pair of Lycomings on the same airframe and look what happens. Citius - Altius - Fortius. :D

What are the required steps to flying from US to Canada?

@kath is correct - it's a bit bureaucratic to cross going either direction, but once you figure out the procedure it's not as difficult as it appears at the outset. The Canadian Ports of Entry situation is a bit of a moving target with COVID. International commercial flight arrivals are being...

    Requesting FBO/concrete parking?

Basler is where all the high priced aluminum (e,g. TBMs, Meridians, etc.) that must stay on pavement parks. You might need a reservation for show week. The only paved parking that I think EAA controls during show week is Boeing Plaza...good luck with that. ;) Things change a bit each year, but...

What are the required steps to flying from US to Canada?

Generally correct, except for item 3; For VFR flight, you must be on flight following to fulfill the requirement of “remaining in contact with ATC”. You will receive a squawk code, different than the one you received from FSS. If APP/DEP forget to tell you to switch to the “boarder crossing”...
