It’s true. Just need to get the word out!

    Reduce your Skyhawk CHT!

No. Because of the location and the angle of the hole, it actually “scoops” air back into the cowl and causes back pressure against the air flow. Just looking at the hole I can see how this is plausible. So far everyone I’ve spoken with seems to agree that the fairing does work. Now the problem...

    Reduce your Skyhawk CHT!

The theory is, the large hole in the lower cowl that the exhaust pipe comes out of allows air in and disrupt the airflow across the cylinders. This fairing is designed to act like a venturi. instead of allowing air in it creates a vacuum and increases the airflow across the cylinders.

. True, as long as the ground is nice and level. They don’t like slopes

    Reduce your Skyhawk CHT!

I've called twice so far and left messages both times. No response yet.

    Reduce your Skyhawk CHT!

I fully understand what the exhaust fairing is for. I only leave my cowl flaps open because the cylinders get too hot for my liking with them closed. This fairing is supposed to lower your CHTs. Just curious if anyone can confirm the clamed 10 to 15 degree drop with this installed. Yes, they do...

    Reduce your Skyhawk CHT!

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I’m looking into one of these for my C182 with a PPONK O520. The O520 is a little harder to keep the CHT down on, and that translates to me pretty much never closing the cowl flaps (I lose 3 or 4 knots). I can close the cowl flaps but then I need to run...

    GPS outage?

This is likely, Toledo Express airport has a decent number of F16 that fly out of there. Sounds like he wasn’t too far away when this happened. With that said, I fly that area a lot and have never had an issue with GPS.

    Minimum Oil Level

I can’t say how low you can go in a 470 but mine likes 9 - 9.5 quarts. anymore and it gets spit out. I’ve never had to add anything between oil changes, and I typically go 40 hours between changes. My engine is “newer” with just over 400 hours since new in jan 2020.

I joined the ranks of the financially irresponsible last week

Congratulations! I have a 182P also and absolutely love it! It’s really good at just about everything and super forgiving. There are so may modifications for the 182p. I have the Sportsman wing cuff and Micro VG’s on mine and that combo really makes it great for STOL (stalls at just over 30...

PA28 down near Ann Arbor, Michigan

Looking at the little bit of data we have, my wild ass guess: They ran out of fuel. Turned around and tried to make it back to 7N4. Trying to stretch the glide they stalled and spun into the ground. This is just a wild ass guess based on the crash site wreckage and the ADSB data. Very sad! The...

Pre Buy Inspection - Who generally pays for moving the plane?

It’s all negotiable. I bought my plane from a guy in Seattle Washington. We agreed on the price then we agreed on a delivery and inspection. We agreed he would deliver the plane to the Detroit area and my IA would do the inspection. If everything was good, I would pay for the plane , his fuel...

    IMC definition for approach logging

This is an interesting topic. I want to bring up an approach I flew last fall. I was shooting the RNAV (LNAV) RWY 22 into KONZ. The ceiling was about 2,400 MSL and I broke out of the clouds just before the FAF. I continued down, runway in sight, all good. At about 2 miles out, at 1,400’ fog just...

    Autopilot Problem

By the way. My TruTrak had an issue holding altitude when it was first installed. It would overshoot and begin to porpoise. I worked with some other 182 guys that were experiencing the same issue. These are the numbers we are running now, and everything has been fine for the last 4 years running...

    Autopilot Problem

If you push the right-side button twice it will show you what altitude the autopilot thinks it’s at. Its where you set the altimeter if you are in GPS mode. Just curious if the altitude matched your pre-selected altitude? did the control unit say "alt hold" ?

Flight Plan Filed -- Told to Expect Different Route

My experience is about the same, except in Florida. I believe they send controllers to Florida to practice giving reroutes! Sometimes it’s just simply skipping a few fixes along a V or T airway. Other times its 3 completely different routes in 30 min just to put you right back on the route you...
