It's funny to think of CAN bus as the latest standards.. I've been using CAN bus since the early 1990s No one really uses it anymore outside of aviation, everything is real time ethernet now days.
Once, on an approach into Toledo. I was told to contact Tower on 118.1. I switched over and no one answered. I tried several times and nothing. I switched back to approach and let them know I was on final and could not contact the tower on 118.1 they told me to contact ground on 121.9. I...
@John Pringle Nice! Mine got a Pponk in 2019 also! It was one of, if not the last Pponk done by Steve Knopp. The guy I bought the plane from was / is friends with Steve. It’s an amazing setup! Love your paint! Beautiful plane!
This is my setup. I have the remote transponder and audio panel. When I first got the plane a few years ago, I wasn't sold on everything running through the 750. Now that I've had it a few years I absolutely love it!
You have never flown a Pponk 182 then. It’s a huge upgrade! The OP said he plans to go with a Pponk. That’s an amazing upgrade if you ask me or anyone who flys one.
Flight Service = "radio"
That's the one. Why are they radio? It's my experience, more than half the time they don't even answer the radio. I wonder if they will ever go out like HIWAS? I actually used HIWAS more often then FSS
Honestly, if you're on the fence about replacing it with a G5, I would say defiantly go for it! I have 2 G5s and would never go back to a vacuum system. Occasionally I fly a friends 172 with a vacuum system. It always reminds me how much I love the G5s. If you fly IFR its so much better!
