    Diesels aren't perfect

I've got an MCI 102-C3 with a Detroit 8V92 awesome sound, amazing torque, 478hp.

    Multi Time vs Glass Time

Multi for sure, altough I'm not sure why this is either/or. Fly the twin as much as you can and fly the glass once in a while to stay current.

    IFR in Canada

I cleared at Northway, AK last month with no sticker, customs guy asked me if I wanted one. So apparently you can buy a sticker when you clear.

    PLB vs. satellite tracker?

I had a Spot and faced the same issues as you are having, then add that their coverage is not universal. I let the subscription expire and have replaced it with an Inreach. So far it has tracked flawlessly on a trip to Whittier on the Alaska Ferry, my flight to Wasilla in my 180 and a drive up...

    The shortest commercial flight

Years ago Western Airlines did that run in a 727. For a while there was a 767 that flew from Brazzaville to Kinshasa, about 6 miles, because bandits held the bridge across the Congo River.

    What're those round dials for?

Initial climb. In cruise it is about 17-18.5K pph.

Need Help Picking the right Cabin Class

I'm aware that the Aerostar is not cabin class hence the "might work" comment.

Need Help Picking the right Cabin Class

I like Cessna 414's. Properly operated, turbo maintenance isn't anything to worry about, besides you are pretty well stuck with them if you want pressurization and mountain crossing capabilities. The 421 is great also, but you will want to learn how to keep the gear boxes from wearing out...

radiator hose on front struts of Cherokee?

That’s a good point, it’s not the rubber hose the FAA objects to but the clamps.

radiator hose on front struts of Cherokee?

The hose should have the same inside diameter as the struts outside diameter. The planes I've seen up close the hose was split and trimmed to fit. The hose in the picture is actually taller than most, I picked it because it was the easiest to see detail. The FAA is concerned with the hose...

radiator hose on front struts of Cherokee?

It is a pretty common mod in Alaska on 182s and 206s as well. It prevents or at least reduces the bottoming out of the nose strut. The FAA has been trying to stop the practice for a while now but it does actually work, so there you go. You can see it installed on this 182.

    Tripacer vs Cherokee...which one?

Keep in mind that when the fabric needs replacing, unless you do the work yourself, it is really economically unviable. Whenever you do a recover it becomes a complete restoration. Think about it, that new fabric will last twenty years, the only logical time to do a lot of inspection and repair...

How much was your 2018 Annual (or Condition) Inspection?

No idea what the annual cost, I know that between the engine overhaul and things I keep updating I'm pushing $40K on the airplane so far this year. The overhaul looks like it is around $26K since I went with all new cylinders. But things added were wingtips with LED landing/taxi/recognition...

    C-182 Skylane with PeePonk mod.

That was from a different era in aviation. In the late 70's early 80's we flew a lot of DC-3's, -4's and -6's off of Big Creek beach on the Alaska Peninsula. Hauling Salmon and Salmon roe to the canneries. Bunch of aerial cowboys really. There were some pretty big names to come out of that...
