    Scam Warning!

I have an ad in the classified section looking for a fuel tank. Yesterday I got a PM from a member "vcat" saying he knew of a tank and leaving an email for contact. So, I send an email and got an almost instant response. $1400 shipped from Nashville pay by wire transfer. Mike Jubirt was the...

    Who screwed up here?

It was an at or above clearance not a descend to clearance. In any case the approach procedure was controlling. Actually in reality once they were cleared for the approach they were cleared all the way down to the MDA.

    Who screwed up here?

The bottom line is that they were cleared for the approach via the arc, the arc only allowed them to descend to 10000'. Regardless of how ATC gave them that clearance the crew had an absolute obligation to stay at 10000' while on the arc. In reality nobody is out there holding your hand! It is...

Do these make good first twins

Even Boeing has limits on taxi turns.

Do these make good first twins

That's good to hear and what I've been told as well. What is the big no no braking while turning?

Do these make good first twins

IDK, I'm completely comfortable flying over the Everglades, Lake Michigan or even the Rockies in either a 310 or a Baron.

Do these make good first twins

My reply is from a purely reliability point of view. With proper training a competent pilot can be safe and comfortable flying just about anything.

Do these make good first twins

The 310 has finicky landing gear and needs lots of love to work properly. A friend has one and tells me they basically rerig the gear at every annual. The rest of the plane is bullet proof, I personally love 310's. I think a better first twin might be a 55 Baron though.

    Who screwed up here?

It isn't unusual to be cleared like that, they were cleared via the arc which had a min altitude of 10000'. It was the crew's responsibility to fly the approach as published. That includes maintaining 10000' until the procedure allowed them to go lower. At or above does not mean descend to 7800'...

Tire thickness: 4 ply vs 6 ply

Six ply tires also weigh more. I'd need to look it up but I think the 4 ply 8.50x10 I use is 6-8 pounds less per tire than the 6 ply. Obviously with smaller tires the difference will be less, but it is still there.

    Yakima, WA

I went to Seattle Pacific University in the late 70's, I remember hating the endless overcast skies. Give me the 320 days of blue. I will say though, when the sun comes out over there it is spectacular, even if it is just for a brief instant. LOL

Different point of view I guess. Personally, I dislike the damp humidity and winter long drizzle of the wet side. To each his own.

I think a lot of it is the lower property taxes, we are seeing a lot of older retirees moving in. There was at one time a lot of RV manufacturing in Yakima. There is still a lot of manufacturing here, aerospace to Kwikloc. Kwikloc makes those odd little plastic things that hold bread bags...

    Cessna Pull Handles

I'm sure the BAS handles are are Cessna copy. If the drawings aren't in the Cessna 180 maintenance manual you might check out the BAS installation instructions. I put them in my airplane and it was pretty straight forward. You do need someone a little on the smaller side and not too...

    Yakima, WA

Spent a lot of time in Yakima have you? Didn't think so. Nope, I've never seen -57 in Yakima, did one winter in Fairbanks, midwest summers are a lot less pleasant than Yakima, it always cools down at night. Yakima doesn't have the humidity. I was born and raised in Yakima.
