    Harbor Freight for tools?

HF is good for random things you won’t use very much. Bought a battery charger from them a while back that seems to be working fine. I see some people have had good luck with their power tools but that is something I’ve stayed away from

    Checkride scheduled!

When I went for my checkride, I found out what my DPE was interested in and got him talking about different things. Really helped “break the ice” and after a while it just kind of blended in to the oral test. Oral lasted about 1.5-2 hours and I’d say a good 45 minutes to an hour of that was me...

    Introduction

I’ve had my eye on this for a few weeks. I’m planning on joining a club to do my ifr training but wasn’t going to buy in until first of January, so probably won’t have access to a plane by then. Could rent but hard to justify paying the higher price when I’m saving for training.

    WTF Apple?

Does your apple device have 3D Touch? If so, put the cursor wherever you want to start selecting text. Hard press on the keyboard to get it into “selection mode” (all the keys go blank and the cursor should stop blinking.) Then, without removing your thumb from the screen, hard press again on...

those who have recently taken the PPL written test:

I struggled getting the right answers when using the computer screen too, but on the test you get everything you need printed out and it’s much easier

those who have recently taken the PPL written test:

I just looked at the Sheppard website. The Sporty’s website that it takes you to looks like the same thing the Sheppard site was when I did it a few months back. Almost all of the questions I had on my exam were also on those practice tests.

I used gleim to learn the material but really got comfortable by taking the Sheppard practice tests. Take enough of those to consistently score above 90 and you’ll do fine.

    Switch type circuit breakers

Had that happen to me in a old C150. Noticed avionics switch was flipped down after instructor got out, thought he accidentally hit it. Took off and radios quit working about 3 minutes later. When I reached down to turn it back on it was hot to the touch and started to smell like it was burning...
