Where have you taken your LSA?

My daughter and I flew a leisurely trip from NY to Seattle, stopping in Oshkosh for two days in 2018. I brought it back solo in 18 hours, which I managed to do in a day and a half. With the autopilot and huge tanks in the CTsw, it was a breeze.

what causes the noises that bleed into the headset

I had the same issue with my strobes. I switched to AERO LEDs and it mostly went away, but not completely. When I switched recently to Bose A20s I got rid of the rest of the strobe noise.

How do you haul your mogas to the aircraft / hangar?

That listing isn’t very clear. For $270 you get two cans, a pump and a dolly. Individual cans are $79 here: https://proformancesupply.com/collections/flo-fast-fluid-transfer/products/10-gallon-flofast-container-red

How do you haul your mogas to the aircraft / hangar?

I use 4 Flo-Fast 11 gallon cans as shown above. Bought it from Overtons online. 12 turns with the pump is 1 gallon. I buy non-ethanol 91 octane per the STC for my airplane and engine. Works great...

USB Charger makes static in Com Radio.

Yes! I had the same issue with my GTR 225 in a Husky with a factory installed 12V outlet. I ended up installing an aviation specific USB-C outlet.

Goodspeed 42B Young Pilots fly in

Thanks for the write up Dana. The wheeled Husky crowd (including me) didn’t come for various last minute reasons. One of our guys drove there and filmed the C-47 take off. Sure hope to make it next year if they hold it again.

    FAA SODA vision question?

I have a friend who is blind in one eye and has been flying for a major airline for 23 years. He was hired at the major with this condition. And less recently, my grandpa was a one-eyed commercial pilot. Here’s encouraging info from the AOPA...

Goodspeed 42B Young Pilots fly in

Oh I hope you will be there with your Hatz. I think I might be even more excited to see that than the C-47. I’ll be there with my dog of a tail dragger.

Why do they always call me Skyhawk?

One day while flying a Husky in the pattern, the controller got a little flustered with the situation and began calling EVERY airplane a Husky. Lots of confused pilots I’m sure.

“LPA - Light Personal Aircraft” proposed by FAA

Latest from Dan Johnson. It looks like LSA will stay largely the same with a few modifications (single power lever allowed as is electric propulsion) and a new category called LPA created. LSA will be a subset of LPA perhaps. More here...

    Going to learn tail wheel

I love all kinds of aviation. But flying a taildragger is like driving a convertible. It just brings a smile to my face. Sometimes flying an airplane that requires a little more finesse like a CT (Warmi) instead of (fill in the name of docile trainer here) makes flying more fun. 40yearDream...

Near ready to pull the trigger on a Flight Design CTLS. Thoughts?

They nearly all have autopilots as well which is handy. I made it back from Seattle to NY in a day and a half in a CT. Less tiring having the autopilot on that trip. It’s pretty hard to get worse than 6 gph on it. I flew around at 5 gallons an hour mostly. Holds 34 gallons. So it has a really...

Thanks everyone for the alternatives to MuttMuffs.

Dogs and Flying and Hearing Protection

Some will suggest MuttMuffs. We tried those. They really don’t have any sound deadening properties. Just two plastic cups that don’t fit properly anyway. I’d suggest getting the puppy used to flying early. It’s fantastic to bring them on trips!

Gi275 AI in all Steam out?

Most like the weight savings of removing the vacuum system and also, they lack the space to keep both.

    Noob seeking advice on SLSAs

To be honest, so far they’ve been similar. It’s the fuel and oil cost that are higher. Fuel is 4x more since its 100LL with a higher fuel burn and slower airspeed compared to running auto fuel in the CT. I have recently switched to non-ethanol auto fuel in the Husky after buying the STC which...
