Isabel Goyer goodbye? Where did it go??

I loved her take on issues. I might not have always agreed 100% but it was nice and refreshing to hear a strong opinion. Can anyone point to a similar aviation editorial like her “Going Direct?” Also, I loved that Plane and Pilot focused on GA, as in piston GA, where the old Flying featured...

    Junkers A50 certified

Oh how I would love one of these. Not entirely practical, and it might get a little cold in the northeast, but wow, the craftsmanship and design just grab me. Anyone planning on getting one? If so, allow me to live vicariously through your purchase experience...

    Weird Looking Aircraft

I ran across this airplane in Anchorage in the early 90s. I was blown away by how much room was inside. 30’ by 10’ by 7’ interior dimensions apparently. And it’s amphibious. https://www.airliners.net/photo/Fondation-Ushuaia/Wilson-Global-Explorer-1/1474800/L

    107 Magazine Covers

That PA-11 on Sport Aviation is probably my favorite.

What can you tell me about Mackinac?

We looked all over for a dog friendly hotel at Mackinac and went with Mission Point. Enjoyed it very much and loved running the island. Loved the food at Mission Point.

    What became of Diamond aircraft?

I found the DA-40 more fun to fly than the SR22. They seem like a better value as well.

    MOGAS and Muffler Issues

I’ve been running a Powerflow with Mogas and 94UL at lean of peak consistently. No issues. 1450 degree egt.

Anyone else call it walking the dog?

Every time I go fly my Husky for no reason, I call it “walking the dog.”

FAA launches investigation after two planes nearly collide at JFK airport

Not a line check or upgrade training. Bad rumor.

Marcy Field 1I1 (Adirondacks) - biplane & camping

We did this in the Spring. That is quite a hike in places. A good workout.

Some static noise in my headset from the strobes-goes away when off

This super simple solution solved it for me: Initially, my headset volume was turned all the way up. When I moved the sliders to the middle and turned the volume up on the radio and intercom the pulsating strobe noise went away! Try that first.

    Lightspeed Delta Zulu

That’s the best part. I never remember to use the app until I’m home. I open it up and all the CO data is there. I have a LEMO plug so yes, it doesn’t even need a battery installed. Kent

    The Hudson River NYC

I’ve done it about ten times now and find the bravo flights to be the most fun and least hectic. So I was about half and half. Recently switched to always going in the bravo.

Float Plane selection - new pilot

Straight floats (without retractable gear) is far easier to insure. I know a high time pilot with a new Icon that is paying $38,000 a year to insure until he gets 100 hours in type. After that the premiums drop 50 percent.

    L-39 or Spitfire?

In 2002 I got to fly in the back of an L-39 in formation with my brother and sister who were in the back seat of two other L-39s at Oshkosh. It was a wonderful experience because I got to share it with them and get some formation stick time as well. Here’s the kicker: it was $250 for each of...
