    Airbus copilot navigation display question

Mostly private pilots but there are a few airline types here. I just switched from thenAirbjs, but let’s see if I remember. Switch over to Map mode on the display select panel near the glare shield on the FO side. Make it look like the Captain’s side at least. That should do it.

I used to think about the boat theory. After crossing it multiple times (in a jet) I’ve noticed… no boats.

Don’t leave us hanging! How’d it come out?

Do airline crews tell you their names anymore?

I have been so tempted to say “Welcome aboard, on behalf of First officer Roger Murdock, this is your Captain, Clarence Overman hoping you have a great trip.” How many aboard would get the reference?

    New England to Oshkosh

I try to fly high enough to land on a safe area. A forest could be survivable. Lake Michigan without a raft, not so much.

    New England to Oshkosh

I asked a good friend why he flew over the lake. “The airplane doesn’t know it’s over water.” Six months ago he was flying along and his engine had a complete failure. I asked him what his thoughts were now about going over the lake. “I knew you were going to ask me that.” I don’t think he...

    The Wright Flyer

Soloy in Olympia Washington tried to get the dual-pack to catch on in the caravan. It was two turbine motors connected to a single propeller. Maybe it would be a multi engine rating with an inline thrust restriction?

Never had the chance to meet him but would have liked to. So sorry to hear this.

No “Traffic Patterns and No Practice Approaches allowed”

That’s because they built a hangar that blocks the view of runway 6 from the tower.

    Oil change intervals

Technically, few of us should even have to look at the number of hours. Like Pinecone says, most of us get to the calendar time before the hours. “Lycoming's service letter stresses the four months oil change interval is more important than the number of hours. The main lubricant-related...

I just got back from my first ever medical, is this normal?...

You wouldn’t have been deferred if you failed the color vision test. You would have been issued a medical that says: “NOT VALID FOR NIGHT FLIGHT OR BY COLOR SIGNAL CONTROL.” So it has to be something else, no?

    How to prevent lost logs?

I used to use an Adobe product to scan my aircraft logbooks but now I use the Notes App on the iPhone. It does a great job for free and it’s very fast. I then print them to PDF on the Mac and save them in GoodReader to Apple’s iCloud.

    Prop Identification

That was a fun project! There is a Helldiver at Chino undergoing restoration at the Yanks Air Museum. Super nice people there. Maybe he could measure it. In fact, I think the prop is currently off of it.

    Prop Identification

My buddy thought P-47 or Helldiver. It’s a Curtis Electric prop: Here’s one on a Helldiver:

Sure looks like it could be from a P-47. Look at this: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/63802-p-47-d22-razorback-propeller-blades/

    Junkers A50 certified

The A50 was originally built in 1929, so they managed to recreate it in the original (and expensive) corrugated aluminum. If I could afford a new Ford Tri-Motor, I would want it built as originally designed, too. But, if you want it with smooth aluminum and the same engine, here’s an option...

    Junkers A50 certified

What are the least expensive certified S-LSAs selling for currently? I think the Aeroprakt A22 is $128,500. This anll-metal airplane has dual Garmin G3X touchscreens and the 912is. Not to mention the corrugated construction. I predict the price will go up. It’s not designed to be a mass market...
