Did FLYING Magazine give away the airplanes or what?

It turns out the rules were pulled from their site.

Did FLYING Magazine give away the airplanes or what?

If we could just get some good investigative reporting from, say, Aviation Consumer on this. Oh wait, they’re owned by Flying.

Did FLYING Magazine give away the airplanes or what?

Something is really odd. They aren’t responding to any questions of “who won” on their Facebook page promoting the raffle and the original website was taken down. Anyone at Sun N Fun witness the giveaway?

    Headset Evaluation

I’m a headset junkie. I think I’ve tried nearly all of them, including clarity aloft and faro as well as the Bose A20. The Delta Zulu’s CO monitor can save your life. No other headset can make that claim. I used to fly with a CO monitor when I didn’t forget to bring it, or forget to turn it on...

    Aviation License Plates

That’s it, I’m moving back to Washington, where my dad used to have a Stearman. Where was this plate then?

Great Barrington trains in a J-3. Not sure if it’s flying currently.

    High CO Readings

Great thread here. I used to use a portable CO monitor but would forget to turn it on half the time. I’m absolutely LOVING the Lightspeed Delta Zulu headset which records the CO levels that I can look at after the flight to see any trends.

    Leaning to peak EGT

While in formation, it’s a good idea to run rich for that period if you’re having to maneuver in place. If you’re lead, then lean as normal.

pilot airline jobs are we at the peak

Not really. He’s saying once the music stops, if you’re in any seat and not out on furlough, it can be a great gig.

Jeez, were you in my new hire class? The exact same thing happened to me.

    Pilots n paws on taxes

I think you can only deduct up to $10,000 of those property taxes now. For me, the standard deduction was $13,850. I did 27 hours of volunteer flying in 2023 but didn’t bother itemizing as I wouldn’t reach the standard deduction either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Buying a LSA. Good idea?

I had a Flight Design CTsw and loved it. Flew from New York to Seattle and back. The return flight took 2 days. The autopilot made it very relaxing and fun. Fantastic range and great efficiency. Parachute was a bonus when flying at night.

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

Quite a bit easier than installing a gas station at home.

    Living Legends of Aviation

Steve Hinton would have been my first choice on the day they came up with the award. Impressive gentleman.

    Anyone remember the FL390 blog?

That’s me. I’m still flying, with 10 years left to go. But flying paragliders the last 10 years and now in a Husky has me satisfied and occupied. That and lurking on POA.

    NYC Touch & Go?

I prefer Newark. Very reasonable (last I checked it was $8.50 per 1000 pound gross weight of your aircraft) and they have the seldom used 11/29 runway that has easy access to Signature. I’ve done it twice and it worked out pretty slick.
