A Socio economic discussion about boomers.

This is exactly the challenge millennials face that older generations don't seem to understand. In the 70s/80s/90s, my dad could buy a basic truck. Now, a basic work truck is built to compete with a Cadillac. A single cab full size truck will often sell for $60k, if you can find a dealership...

A Socio economic discussion about boomers.

I know many millennials who would be happy with that life, but it's not an option in most of the country. Many of the 3 bed 1 bath homes have been renovated into 4/3s or demolished and replaced with McMansions. The ones that haven't arrived in places where you can't get a job that pays...

Owning a plane in the DC SFRA

No, but DCA is an approximation of where the office is. Though I would love to be able to fly into DCA instead of driving, that would open up some options for places to live farther out (I don't think that is realistic).

Owning a plane in the DC SFRA

I would like the option to fly after I get off work (5pm).

Owning a plane in the DC SFRA

I'm still working out details, but I am basing my planning on distance from DCA. Edit: Commuting distance, not direct distance.

Owning a plane in the DC SFRA

I have a job offer that (if accepted) will move me toward DC. I hate commuting, so I would likely find myself living under the SFRA. How often I fly is directly tied to how long it takes to get to the plane. Does anyone have experience owning and flying a plane in the DC SFRA? Can you give...

    Taildragger recommendations

What's your budget? What's your in plan? Do you want something you can teach in once you are insurable? Do you want something you can still in 12 months? Do you want something you can keep and play around with?

One airframe with both single & twin-engine versions

You are right on that one, the Baron was the single Bo fuse.

One airframe with both single & twin-engine versions

The Bonanza and the twin Bonanza. The Navion and the Twin Navion The Arrow and Seminole All of these share a Fuselage (In addition to the Comanche and the Twin Comanche) Edit: some of my pairings are incorrect, keep reading

Weird placement of car parts. Why?

The old Chrysler Sebrings had the battery in the driver side front tire well. It was truly insane, I still haven't seen a battery location that I thought was worse. (Un)Fortunately, those engines were so bad that the batteries generally didn't have to be replaced more than once.

Viking 130 engine failure at 1150 hours

EASA, specifically the Austro E4 in Diamonds. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austro_Engine_E4 Limbach certificated multiple VW Derivatives in Germany in the 80s/90s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limbach_Flugmotoren Personally, I view these 2 implementations very differently from Viking, but...

    [NA] Thinking iphone 15

I moved from the IPhone SE to the IPhone 11 after a cracked screen. I really liked the form factor of the SE, but I hated the lightning port (everything else I have, other than my IPad, uses USB-C). I picked up the 11 for cheap second hand with the plan of using it until I could buy a USB-C SE...

Viking 130 engine failure at 1150 hours

There are auto conversions that have proven reliable enough to be certificated. While I understand the hesitation to fly behind them, I believe that their development and use in experimental aviation is good for all of GA. While I understand the surprise (the lack of data for high time...

Help me fill some space for a flight sim

You are going to want to go PC for this one. Xplane is not well optimized to take advantage of the Apple Silicon Graphics (I run it on an M1 Macbook occasionally). I would keep an eye on Reddit's buildapc sales prebuilts...

    Used Mustang

Definitely get a prebuy from a mechanic that knows (and has repaired) 3V Modular Ford Cam Phaser issues. 3V 5.4s are famous for the cam phaser issues, but it happens on 4.6s as well (in my opinion, its more common on 5.4s not because of the engine (vs 4.6s), but because of the use case of 5.4...

Viking 130 engine failure at 1150 hours

(Not my video, but I like to follow aircraft auto conversions) The link starts with an examination of the engine, the first 30 minutes are background and an engine swap. This video came up in my Youtube feed, it seems that the engine had a custom tune for 87 octane fuel (Viking recommends 91)...

Cockpit space in Tomahawk, Skipper, & Yankee?

RVs have far less issues with A&Ps refusing to touch them, and insurance almost treats them like they are certified. It's worth considering. I used to own an AA1C and I have rented 150s in the past. In my view, the Yankees feels smaller, but more comfortable. It's similar to the difference...
