    Aspen E5 Software Unlock

I've got this tentatively scheduled for tomorrow but the avionics shop has never done one and he only has a small window to do it. If it takes too long I may have to go back next week. It seems like it'd be a simple software update BUT sometimes they aren't that simple like the Avidyne operating...

SureFly Electronic Mag - who has one?

Here you go: https://bearhawkforums.com/forum/bearhawk-general-discussion-news/29957-more-information-about-surefly-sim-electronic-ignition Gives good info and fuel burn and efficiency also. I've got about 60 hours on Surefly now and agree with the above links OP.

SureFly Electronic Mag - who has one?

Below is a quote from another forum..Basically you simply increase the gap on your existing plugs to gain the most from the hotter spark. Given that plug gap increases with use I wouldn't go all the way to .034 from .018 but maybe to .028 or .030 and check the gap every other oil change. "They...

SureFly Electronic Mag - who has one?

I purchased as soon as they got the advanced timing option approved several months back. It was an easy install and set up and has performed flawlessly. Biggest improvement for me was how much better it always starts. It also is smoother and a bit more efficient. You can get gains with...

    O-360 Starting Procedures

On my Archer II (for hot/warm start) I tried several methods already mentioned and they all work, some better than others. The best one I've found though is a bit unique. Full throttle and mixture before starting, hand on throttle to quickly pull it back. Starts on first or second blade every...

    Mooney gone?

Here's a 62 C model I owned for 17 years and put a lot of hours on, many times with big loads. 142 knots cruise 8.3 gph, would do 154 knots at max power. Did 3 Cayman Caravan trips with it, one was with 4 adults and full fuel IFR at 10K. Other than being a pain to work on it was a wonderful...

EAA suing the SOS Brothers beer tent...

I've got 3 neighbors that own Questair Ventures..I guess they can't fly in for Oshkosh anymore because they might be sued. However, EAA changed the name to Airventure in 1998. The Questair Venture name goes back to the 80s. Seriously though, I think all of this will not get rid of Beer Venture...

    Mooney gone?

The actual measurements they tout were taken at elbow level, there's minimal change to shoulder level (probably 42 inches) but the overall height is significantly less and it does give a feeling of claustrophobia to some larger people until you get used to it as there is minimal headroom. In...

    Mooney gone?

I've got over 3000 hours in various Mooney models. The misconceptions seem to work both ways. Here's a link with some facts on width and useful load. http://mooneyland.com/why-mooney/

O-300s - Love em? Hate em? Typical maintenance costs and overhaul cost

Good, simple engines. Basically a 6 cylinder O200 (uses the same cylinders). Parts are reasonable. Flew an old 172 with the 145hp O300 and it was similar in performance to the O320s (150hp) and ran much smoother.

    iPad Pro 11"

Absolutely! I've got a clip on phone mount that attaches to the lip of the glareshield. Can also make angle attachments on the left and right windshield posts. Seriously though, I do not fly with the ipads on the visors, I was just testing out if they'd be useful there, mostly superfluous...

    KSAT Citations collide

To those who are the first to throw stones please consider that you may be on the receiving end someday. It's easy to say I'm not an idiot and I'll never do that but the reality is that flying can be complex and no one is exempt from making mistakes. We're in a country where innocence is...
