    FlyQ EFB Inexpensive Offering

I did exactly the same..Had WingX for years and they seem to have abandoned their product. I still have Ifly also as I have a 740 and also run it on an ipad. FlyQ does most everything that everybody's favorite EFB does with much better and simpler pricing. One tip, The only minor issue I had on...

New Aspen E5 - In-Flight Crash and Reset

In agreement with your post although I don't think you need to have dual E5s for reliability. Something like an AV20s for less than $900 would suffice as a good backup.

Anyone Using One of the Cockpit Companion Cockpit Organizer?

A lot of the stuff in the pic isn't used much anymore. E6B, charts, pilot guide, passive Dave Clarks (headsets worn when flying and wouldn't be stored). An IPAD would replace most of that stuff.

I’ve got a neighbor who has 2 airplanes, one certified and one experimental who shares one 530W between the two. He’s done this for years with no issues.

    Avionics - Speed of Change

I agree with you, it's a LOT better than it was but there is room for improvement.

    Avionics - Speed of Change

"fast-track"....they obviously have a different definition than the rest of us in the order it today get it tomorrow world. I'd rather see "leaps" than steps in the right direction.

    Avionics - Speed of Change

This is a primary reason why FAA certification of avionics needs to be steamlined. By the time approval happens it might already be antiquated and obsolete.

    Why is installation so expensive?

A lot of shops do quotes based on worst case scenarios they've experienced. 50 year old planes with a lot of old wiring (same color), makes it difficult to do even simple jobs. It's still hard to believe sometimes when something like 70 hours is quoted. That would mean that a tech worked on your...

    Uavionix/Aerovonics AV-30 Certified Units

I've been burned more than once with Aircraft Spruce expect ship dates, I think they are just a computer generated guess. Last time I ordered some Goodyear II tires and when it got close to expect ship date, it'd back off 2 more weeks. After the 3rd change in their expect ship date (another 2...

Flying your own plane to work

I did this with a Mooney for over several years and put more than 3000 hours on the plane. Had several facilities and also had to go district and corporate hq quite often. Ft Myers to Key West or MTH - 4 to 5 hours driving - 50 minutes flying (door to door--live on an airpark and facilities were...
