Anyone use a Come to you School?

It's 12-15 because if the CFI you did your private with was a -II, those 3 hours count. So you only need 12 on top of it. I think 30 hours is a lot. And 30 hours of ground is crazy. I guess it works for someone who just wants to be fed a pre-packaged syllabus and doesn't want to do any...

Anyone use a Come to you School?

Not being sarcastic. I bet most CFII's in this country would be very happy to teach for $500 a day. It also sounds excessive, you only need 12-15 hours of instruction for the rating. 30 hours instruction and 30 hours of ground sounds like overkill to me. That's a lot of money for the rating. I...

$5000 plus plane costs plus expenses? That's highway robbery!

    Ferrari vs Cessna

They pretty much did. It's (well, they are, there's two) a 24mm belt, waaay underrated for what it is.

    Ferrari vs Cessna

The F1 transmission is horrible. Avoid like cancer. It's crap to drive, it's not very strong, and it's hilariously expensive to repair.

The engine drops in about 30 minutes in those.

    Weekly Commute: Is It Practical?

I've used this as an example for two things. a) Money, piloting skills, ADM and common sense don't always come in the same package. And b) PC12 is one hell of a strong airframe. That thing fell from almost 30'000ft and its still identifiable as a PC12.

Why should I not buy a Cessna 421.??

Then again - PC12 has better resale value, way cheaper maintenance, it's faster, and burns way less gas than a non-F-90.

Best Accelerated Multi-Add on for buck?

In my experience, the hardest thing about getting your ME rating is finding a place and scheduling it. Action in Groton, and especially Tom Brady at Traverse can be booked 4-5 months solid. Like @BrianNC said, I did mine with Fly By Knight in Hammond, LA. They are scheduled 1-2 months out for...

No you don't. I had my certificate before I had my SS number.

It's optional. FAA does not need your SSN for anything.

11 years Epileptic Free - FAA Medical Exam

X-rays destroy sensitive film (ISO400 or above usually with short exposure), but does absolutely zilch to optical discs. That's where the misunderstanding comes from.

Looong XC flight for Commercial Pilot.... DONE!

Pilot careers progress much faster nowadays. If I wanted, I could've done CP->regional in a year. My first job was flying passengers.

    NPV of Regional Airline Earnings

Ultra-senior guy at a regional can have pretty incredible QoL and make plenty of money. Check airmen/instructors easily break 200k. Some are close to 350k but they don't have much time off. And also - majors aren't just a "go there" thing. Some 100% qualified people never get the call.

    NPV of Regional Airline Earnings

SkyWest is great if you don't care about your paycheck. Their "contract" is godawful. $37/hr, tiny per diem, 1% raise per year, dual occupancy hotels during training etc. It's great if you can survive with that pay, and live in DTW or MSP. Their west coast bases are very senior, don't expect to...
