    GNC255 Database updates

https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/avpages/garmin_11-19213.php I would order a cheaper version from amazon.

Skew-T diagrams removed because blind people can’t see them

FAA medical is what stops them. Ditto for blind drivers, eye test any time you renew your license. Interesting there’s no hearing tests, so you can have deaf pilots? Doesn’t seem fair? Best part of the requirements for visually impaired, web sites have to provide reader pages, ie pages without...

    Aviation Etiquette

I would park my car in the spot to prevent someone from using it.

Fatal Crash at First Flight, 9/28

Fairly benign conditions, southwest winds 15+ mph which aligns nicely with runway 21.

Cheapest way to build retract time

He said he didn’t need to haul 4, so yes a C would work fine for 2 adults, and maybe 2 children but you better pack light. Anytime somebody wants to do anything in aviation the cheapest possible way makes me shake my head.

Is there a website data base of airfields that have T hangars available?

I called about 15 airports at various places I was thinking of moving to…all had waiting lists. I would put yourself on a list now.

Looking at the picture, the 1 hangar is destroyed, but others look fine.

    Damage looks very localized.

    I’m calling the peak

Engine overhauls are $30k or more. Glass panels are more common and will soon become the norm. Paint jobs are $20k or more. You can easily justify why a well maintained, upgraded 4 place airplane is well over $100k.

    Planes and hurricanes

That looks like tornado damage. Sometimes the only sure protection is not to be there.

Long XC advice: Washington <> California

iPhone makes a good backup to the iPad. If this trip was scheduled in the winter you could be grounded for a week or more.

    iPad case/cover idea? (full size)

Yeah, I like that idea too, get yourself a cheap one and cut the back out of it. Leave enough plastic to maintain its rigidity.

    Planes and hurricanes

Don’t forget it’s just not the wind, but storm surge….last I heard was predicted to be 9-10’.

    iPad case/cover idea? (full size)

A cover is like a blanket and will prevent it from shedding heat. You might want to try drilling numerous holes in the back to let it breathe, Apple uses the back as a heat sink,

    Car cover

Here in south Florida I have to order a new one every year, the sun just causes it to deteriorate. I worry the heavier ones would trap the moisture.

Aviation insurance doesn’t seen to have different levels of deductibles like auto insurance. I think it would it lower rates if they did.
