Went to the avionics shop yesterday to fine tune my quote and talk through a few options. Was thinking I would do the JPI 900 engine monitor, the GFC 500 autopilot, transponder with weather, 2 G5's and Flight Stream 210. This was going to cost me about $50k with installation. HOLD EVERYTHING...

Agreed, but probably starting at the higher end of your range.

All good input. I just cant seem to get the bang for the buck that I was hoping. To really get 170+ speeds it opens up a whole new level of "spend".

I think I am good with the Dakota in the near term. As was said earlier there is no perfect airplane....and unless I can make a huge speed jump my going from 140 to 160 doesnt make a ton of sense.

This is my current thinking on the Dakota upgrades. However, I only have a 430 as a panel mounted GPS. Thoughts on a larger GPS without breaking the bank?

Usually the longer flights are with my wife and sometimes with a son and his gf. I like that you said the plane “is a joy to fly” because I do feel that about the Dakota too.
