PC-12 Crash In South Dakota, 9 dead, 3 survivors (CFIBlizzard?)

Intake does not use bleed air from the engine. The intake is heated with exhaust heat and is always on. Cabin is heated with turbine bleed air.

Where to get complex time in So Cal??

This is good advice. While not difficult to fly, the PA-24 has it's quirks, like any aircraft.

Where to get complex time in So Cal??

Where is the aircraft located? I'm a CFI with lots of PA24 time and numerous Comanche checkouts. Just up the freeway in Temecula. PM is I can be I can be of assistance.

Aircraft Multi Day Out of State Rental

LA to Vegas is easy peasy. I did it as a student pilot long before GPS was available.

Lake Havasu City (KHII) meet-up 10/19/2019

Can also be seen in your second picture along with the shadow of the old runway on the island. That runway was not aligned well with the prevailing wind, but I liked landing there. Had I known Frank was going, I'd have tagged along. :p

    Winery with runway in CA?

There are numerous wine tasting tours available in Temecula. Some folks must like the wine as the wineries are all expanding into destination resorts. Not a wine drinker myself.

    New PC-12, the PC-12NGX

And empty the lav from the outside so line service can do it. Not a chamber pot the crew has to empty. Other than that, I love flying the PC-12.

Might be a good time to comply with Piper SB 1006 as well if it's due.

Night Xc done, I hate those dash lights!

I installed one of these in my '65 Cherokee 180. Poor panel lighting solved. NuLites would have been nicer, but this was a good, low priced alternative and worked quite well. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/pilotlightpro.php?clickkey=210978

    Airport planning beyond fuel price?

The Nugget is the best airport restaurant on SE Alaska. Juneau's airport cafe is weak, but you can walk to Donna's or Mi Casa.

What NDBs are still on in the US?

Yes, there are. There are NDB defined airways as well. I regularly fly 2 DPs that use NDBs. 1 of those NDBs also defines the MAP on an LDA approach.

    Flying Route 66

I stopped there once to wait out weather. Not much there but a truck stop you can walk to for lunch, dinner or even a shower. Apparently there is fuel there, but I couldn't tell for sure. Tucumcari is a better RON stop. I've flown Rt 66 end to end several times. Driven it as well. It's a fun...

You can't fail a flight review but...

I've had two of those. One took a fair amount of retraining after he'd had a 10 year layoff. But he got up to speed after about 5 flights and now flies often in his own Debonair. The other I eventually signed off after about 10 flights with the strong suggestion that he continue to practice...
