    AirVenture Traditional Irish Music Session

Well, we gave EAA all the information but they put it up on the schedule as "Musical Jam Session - Musical Jam Session, presented by the Flying Musicians Association", which could be about something called Musical Jam that's made out of strawberries and grapes with a hint of citrus. Sheesh...

    AirVenture Traditional Irish Music Session

I'm working on setting up the 2nd Annual AirVenture Irish Trad Music Session! We're tentatively planned for Thursday night (7/25) at 7 pm at the Ultralight Forums tent. Hopefully, it won't be so hot this year and more people come with their instruments. I'm especially hoping we'll get some...

What have I done? Crazy old woman musings

The joy is in the journey! I picked up guitar when I was in college, but never took lessons so never took the time to get good. I can play simple chords and uncomplicated strumming patterns. However, I started Irish tin whistle lessons a year ago (after fiddling around for a couple years) and...

    What's Flying Like in Retirement?

I retired in October. I had been (slowly!) working on my commercial I finally had the time to finish up on my commercial and got it done last week. I'm being encouraged to start on the CFI, but am of mixed emotions about it. I'm hoping to do more flying around for fun along the east coast...

Has anyone ever volunteered at Airventure?

They still post needs on a whiteboard at the volunteer booth by the Red Barn market. I've volunteered a few time parking planes on N40 and Vintage. It's a great chance to see planes up close, work with some interesting characters, and realize how bad at following directions some pilots and...

Owning a plane in the DC SFRA

That's out of date. They've added the silver line. See this site: https://www.wmata.com/schedules/maps/upload/System-Map-2023.pdf BTW, the Green Line "College Park-U of Md." stop is just across the street from the College Park airport.

Owning a plane in the DC SFRA

Bay Bridge is W29. It's a long haul from Downtown DC and in the summer you have to deal with the Bay Bridge with 5 mile backups. But we'd love to have you come visit. There are plenty of tie downs but hangar waiting list is long.

Another IT guy lost to Aviation

On the other hand, I was a software developer for 45 years until retiring last month. I love writing code and building systems. Currently writing a little program for church. I have to admit that I didn't get called in off hours (when I did I left that company pretty quickly). Yes, I was a scrum...

    Valley Christian School Lodging PIREP

Hi Folks, The wonderful folks at VCS won't be offering lodging for EAA attendees in 2024 because they'll be replacing the roof as well as other factors. Part of letter from Debbie Wallace: "We have made the very difficult decision to “hit the pause button” on EAA lodging going forward. Why...

    Trad Session get-togethers at AV?

Thanks to all who stopped by! We had 20-30 people at some points. It was quite an adventure and about 10,000° in the tent, but we had a good time. Thanks to the singers who came up also! I got some great suggestions for the next time and maybe I'll be an advanced player instead of an...
