What is causing my electricals to reboot?

I'm sure your correct on the exact voltages per temperature, but unless he has 13.5+ with the engine running, then I suspect the alternator is not charging and he is running on the battery. My piper indicates 13.6 volts while running. Seems to be charging my 7 year old Concorde battery nicely.

What is causing my electricals to reboot?

2X. I agree that it appears that your alternator is not charging and you are running on battery alone. With no load (everything off) your battery should be 12.5+ for a good battery (check at battery). When the engine is running in flight you should see 13.5+ volts (this would validate charging)...

    No gps signal to 796

I agree that it is most likely the internal battery which are typically soldered to the circuit board. The battery dies and the unit no longer has the time so it can't look up the position of the satelites. My 396 did the same thing. I replaced the battery and now it aquires quickly again. There...

    Help with Vet friend

Unfortunately too much fraud going on and this really hurts the servicemen who really need it. I served for 7 years so I saw those who gamed the system. They claim disabilities and avoided work. Ringing in the ears, back pain, etc. The one I knew well hurt his back jumping into a swimming pool...

How to avoid FBO fees at Stewart KSWF?

I noticed there was an Army building at the other end of the general avaiation ramp. Maybe I'll try that building next time since one of my sons is enlisted in the the USAF as a medic and frequently flys with the Army guys in the black hawks.

How to avoid FBO fees at Stewart KSWF?

They did offer a loaner car, but I declined because the international terminal was just 500-1000 feet away so my sons walked. Again, the service was very good, but I really did not need service.

How to avoid FBO fees at Stewart KSWF?

Yes, the service was good and I was treated very well, but honestly I really did not want to go in the building. I went in to pay my bill and make sure I followed their rules. I did have bottle of water and used the the bathroom after paying.

How to avoid FBO fees at Stewart KSWF?

I actually think that AOPA should strive to create a public use path/access point at all public airports for pilots. Many smaller public airports already have these gates in place. This is probably easier said than done due to security concerns at larger airports. Government funded airport...

How to avoid FBO fees at Stewart KSWF?

BTW thanks for all the responses. I had to ask. The FBOs must love the airport lockdown that 911 created so you have to go through their private business to access the public airport!

How to avoid FBO fees at Stewart KSWF?

I just got back from my flight to KSWF. The total cost was not that bad since I purchased their minimum fuel amout of 7 gallons. Everybody that worked there was very friendly. Below is a breakdown of the fees. It reminds me of my cable TV bill. Handling Charge $37 (waived due to fuel purchase) 7...

How to avoid FBO fees at Stewart KSWF?

The FBOs don't own the the airport and should not have exclusive right to GA traffic. I don't mind paying airport fees, but why do I need to use their FBO ramp? The FBOs charge $7.50/gal, but I will buy the minimum to reduce their fees. They are also turning a 5 min drop off into a 30 minute process.

How to avoid FBO fees at Stewart KSWF?

I am dropping off my sons at the airport to catch a flight on Norwegian Airlines. Can I just drop them off at the ramp somewhere without using the FBOs? I don't need fuel. Seems ridiculous to have to pay $43 for a 5 minute drop off.

    $199 ADSB In from ForeFlight

My IPAD mini4 GPS seems to work continuously, but I would loose cellular at times when flying. (I know cellular should be off per FCC) Adding the scout provides reliable weather and enhanced traffic information. The Scout is a terrific value at $200! My buddy and I flew the NY corridor with...
