I have 2 boys and that is plenty for me. They are good young men and I am very proud of them. Having 2 definitely double the work/cost, but if they are close in age it is not so bad. My vote is to to keep the wife happy and have another child. They will grow faster than you realize so enjoy them...

Buck- Why are you keeping both CDIs? Both G5s will display your GS and localizer from your #1 Avidyne navigator. If you only have 2 navigators/radios I would drop one CDI and install the vacuum AI in that location.

I am in the process of having a garmin 796 installed as Yankee suggested. Runs on aircraft power but has a battery for back-up. The 796 has many features including maps, weather, traffic, geo taxi diagrams, XM (optional), etc. I think it is a great low cost MFD.

How is the Course Arrow set on the G5? Is there a knob or is it automatic based upon the GPS course or ILS course from the navigator? I have never flown an HSI and I see the mechanical HSIs had a Course arrow set knob.

Currently my Century 21 AP in NAV or Approach mode uses the KX-155 ILS/VOR CDI indicator to provide heading steering commands. Will the GTN-650 with the G5 HSI also provide ILS/VOR steering signals to the AP?
