Continental O-300 Running Rough at Mid RPM

I purchased an overhauled Marvel-Schebler MA-3SPA carb from Aircraft Spruce. Are these known to have issues?

Continental O-300 Running Rough at Mid RPM

Hi Guys, I'm in the process of restoring a Cessna 172 with a 1300 hour Continental O-300D. This plane has sat outside for about 6 years. We rebuilt the fuel lines and changed the carb, all new spark plugs, adjusted mag timing. The engine starts and runs well enough but is rough at the mid rpms...

    Learned something today about twins

This conversation isn't specific to the Najavo. It's about the physics of CR vs conventional. But since you mentioned the Najavo, yes CR may allow higher horsepower without a change to the airframe because there is less asymmetrical force once you eliminate the critical engine and it's longer...

    Learned something today about twins

You may not be accurately describing what you are thinking, but sorry to say that what you are saying is illogical. Both engines on a CR engine are like failing the non-critical engine on a conventional twin. In other words, failing either engine on a CR is equal to failing the non-critical...

    Learned something today about twins

Why would a twin with CR propellers require different rudder forces depending on which engine failed? It should be the same in each direction.

    Learned something today about twins

To clarify, I also prefer a twin to a single, but I prefer a CR twin to a conventional.

    Learned something today about twins

It's hard to agree that the difference is irrelevant. With the failure of the left engine, the right non-CR engine pulls the airplane more forcefully to the left. This means you have less time to apply correction than if it were a CR and more time for the plane to embark on extremely hostile...

    Relocating Panel Items

I would like to free up some space under the transponder to mount an iPad. To do this, I would like to relocate the ELT and Fuel Computer as shown in the attached photo. It's simple enough to do myself but I'm wondering if I can legally do it and complete the log book entry or do I need an A&P...

AI Tumble and return to operation

Well, the shop replaced the AI with an overhauled unit. 100 times worse than before. Took a 3 hour trip and the AI did cartwheels the entire way. Very frustrating since they replaced it on a Friday afternoon and we had a weekend trip planned. Does this sound like installation error or a faulty...

AI Tumble and return to operation

Vacuum gauge showed normal 5" and all other instruments were fine. One thing that makes me wonder is, this only started happening after the DG was replaced. Can this be caused by a contaminant particle in the line? Seems pretty unlikely though, right? Probably time for an overhaul or G5.

AI Tumble and return to operation

Today on a cross country flight (VFR thankfully) the AI started to tumble left, stayed there and then slowly returned to normal operation about 15 minutes later without another hiccup. Everything else continued to work fine. Is there a known issue that causes this? Is it just time for a new...

    MSFS2020 Disappointment thread

Dude, you are singing my song! I started with SubLOGIC Flight Assignment ATP, moved onto FS98, Sierra ProPilot and then X-Plane. (I'm actually responsible for the timer in the aircraft) I was hopeful for FS2020 but they made testers pay for an Alpha product and I'm ambivalent about that. Back...

Plane value vs. Personal Net Worth?

I wonder if the more salient question is what percent of one's annual income is reasonable to allocate towards operating expenses?

    Xplane 11 best budget computer.

I use X-plane 11 with an Intel i5-8600K with an nVidia GTX 1070 and it works great especially since X-Plane implemented Vulkan as an alternative to OpenGL. I regularly get 80+fps. You should be able to get this setup or better for well under $1000. I know you didn't ask but I also wanted to...

    Reinstalling Removed Equipment...require a new 337?

For the sake of this hypothetical. Let's assume that the equipment was removed with a log entry and no 337 filed. The only thing that remain are the gps antenna and wiring.

    Reinstalling Removed Equipment...require a new 337?

An STEC-50 and Garmin 430 were installed in an aircraft and the STCs and old 337s are present. Over time, they both became INOP and were removed. Years later would a new 337 form be required to reinstall working versions of the same units or are the old STCs/337s still valid?

Lost a plane by not offering asking price

To the OP. Man, I understand how you feel. I just lost a plane that was listed at a great price because I tried to eek a little too much out of the deal. Was the Lance asking price around 50k and vref around 25k? I guess like others said, there will always be other planes for sale. Doesn't feel...
