Icon A5.. another crash Jul 27

May have done that takeoff before and possibly usually solo with no ill-effects. Add in a 200 lbs passenger (hypothetical), takeoff will be a little different. Agree that he wasted a lot of “runway” with that turn from the dock.

    Ever Look at This Instrument?

I’m interested in it as it will drive my autopilot (Attitude based). Once it’s released that is...

Yep, that’s the one. He just dropped all the way in in the turn with zero flare that I could see. He hit right next to me and you don’t see the gear completely fold at the end, but you can see that left main flopping once he bounces off the runway.

    Think I got a skunk

In college, my wife and I lived in a single wide trailer for about a year and a half. We started hearing rustling under the bedroom floor one night and would every-so-often get a whiff of skunk through the window fan. Not knowing much about them, we thought the best approach should be to scare...

Me too...can’t find anything on it. It looked to be a pretty light blue and white v-tail. I think AOPA did their Deb up in a similar scheme.

It wasn’t super busy with arrivals at that time, at least on 18R. It was very busy with departures though with an occasional arrival thrown in. Not sure why they were landing planes on 18R with us departing on it (they were also landing 27), but he was not even close to being stabilized and...

G5 to get TAS and other goodies like wind data

So much for the G5 getting the ability to drive an attitude-based autopilot. Maybe next year. In the meantime, suppose I’ll go ahead and send my AI for an overhaul...

Crummy picture, but this happened right in front of me this morning as we were trying to leave. We had just crossed P2 (show center) in the conga line of planes trying to leave at about 0900 taking off 18R. I just happened to look up in time to see a v-tail Bo in a hard left descending turn...

Your Invitation to the 17th Annual H.O.P.S. Party in the North 40

If you’re near Vintage, you could walk to the end of row 97 and get the 6-pack of Mississippi’s finest brew I brought and take it as your own. N40 is about as far from me as you can get and I have my son, so won’t be attending.

#OSH19 Jambalaya and Chili Party - Tuesday

We’re not going to make it either. My son has a food allergy and one of the few places he can eat (tent by the museum) was supposed to be open until 9pm (per the EAA app), but closed at 6pm. So by the time we got there at 8pm and found it closed, we then had to hitch a ride back and work an...

    Oshkosh - 2019

Made it in about 1115. The lady at FISK was so nice and traffic not so terrible, that elected to just fly the low route in at 1800’, but held about 110 kts as there was about 2 miles between me and the high wing ahead of me. Landed 27 with winds 360/09G16...felt like I didn’t prepare...
