Does your spouse have a clue

My spouse would be completely safe. She'd be sitting at home, saying "****in'A, now I own everything. Hawaii, here I come!" Tim

    Towbar Prop Strike

On the other hand, I love mine. I know that I will NEVER have to worry about leaving the tow bar attached, because if I let it go, it falls off onto the ground. I've never had much difficulty using it. Tim

    Lazy people

I once pointed this out to a pilot who was manually turning the wheel to roll up the hose. He honestly didn't know about it, and was VERY happy to find out. Tim

    Flying with the door open

When I was a student pilot on my first solo cross country, I realized mid-flight that both doors of the 172 I was flying were unlatched. That's when I discovered you can steer a 172 with the doors. Tim

    Rookie mistake and CRM failure

123weld All the CFIs I've ever flown with gleefully allowed me to get as deep as I wanted to into any nondangerous mistake I felt like making, just so they could see how I got out of it. The CFI is only there to see that you don't get killed while teaching yourself to fly. Tim

Balloon Pilot Who Killed 16 in Texas on Drugs, Had Many DWIs

I made no such statement about what the government should do. I only pointed out that there were far more balloon accidents than you said. In general I am in favor of keeping the government, and especially the FAA, out of my life. Tim

Balloon Pilot Who Killed 16 in Texas on Drugs, Had Many DWIs

According to the NTSB aviation accident database there have been about 769 balloon accidents since 1976, 62 of them fatal. Total fatalities about 120. So still far fewer fatalities than airplanes, but not insignificant, either. Tim

    Something unusual in Chico

Happened to be in Chico, CA over the Thanksgiving holiday, and for no particular reason drove out to the airport to take in the scene. While I was there, I saw something looking like a huge glider approach for landing--a U2! It made a few low approaches, the landing wheel never actually...

    Ground vehicles at private airport

I really don't understand what you're saying. Like Brad, I've never seen a circle-P; only circle R. Circle R is a non-hard surfaced private airstrip. A hard-surfaced one is designated "Pvt" in the airport name. This is from the current San Franciso sectional. I think by definition a private...

    Intestinal emergencies

Not an intestinal emergency, but a bladder one... Once, within sight of our destination airport, I got to watch a passenger squat on the right front seat while she peed into a plastic bag that I (thank God) had in the back. Lesson learned? I found out I can actually land an airplane while...

    Parachute malfunction

You're nuts! I have rifles I've fired that many times without a single failure. And my life doesn't depend on a rifle. Tim
