Osh transition start for next year

Part of the problem on Sunday were the multiple airport closures due to incidents that would send everyone back around the various lake holds, and they closed just 9/27 at least once for special arrivals (such as Doc, which needed to back taxi because they weren't about to taxi in the grass...

    Camper delivery + setup service

:D:D:D In that case definitely look at the tank capacity (both fresh and grey water). It's a slight adjustment to showering normally in that one should really not just let the water run... it's surprising how quickly one can drain their fresh water tanks (and fill the grey) taking normal...

    POA Brown Arch brick?

    DPEs are people too

Actually, that was another story he told. Student had a pretty good written test, but missed questions related to LAHSO. As always, test gave him the ACS standards to revisit. DPE reviewed the logbook, saw that the CFI had signed off on topical review, and the DPE simply asked, "So, tell me...

    A2A Mtns2Skies Cessna 180

Saw it on the ground and was really impressed by how clean this was. Very nice airplane, and a very well-deserved award and recognition.

    DPEs are people too

I was in a forum at Oshkosh and the DPE presenting noted exactly this. He had some great tips for those about to do a checkride, and it all seems VERY common sense, but sometimes that stuff isn't obvious until someone says it. A few of the things he noted: Do your homework on the airplane. Get...

Sling Aircraft inching their way to Oshkosh, big brass ones.

The large tent they originally had them under collapsed during the storm on Saturday night and struck (and damaged) several of the aircraft. Decent chance they were attending to some of the damage that was wrought by the tent collapse. I saw some pretty significant body damage (appeared to not...

    Camper delivery + setup service

Can confirm. The electric/water sites are hella expensive. Getting a smaller trailer and generator will almost definitely be cheaper. The one downfall to that is either needing to be in the 24-hour generator zone (which is... not enjoyable in the least), or not use the genny (and a/c) at night...

    First Oshkosh '22 Incident?

Awwww, man. I don't want anyone to have an "incident" at OSH, but this one just hurts.

    First Oshkosh '22 Incident?

Sounds like there's FOD on the runway, as they're sending a power sweep down to the area of the incident. Rough way to start a show that hasn't even started yet.

    First Oshkosh '22 Incident?

Saw on the Vintage cam emergency services hauling toward the approach end of 36L... and on Ultralight cam, looks like something departed the runway after the purple dot. Hoping everyone is okay.

    Oshkosh 2022

They're having problems right now with not enough flagfolks, so planes landing have no idea where to go once they pull off into the grass. Though... you know... a lot of that would be in the NOTICE if it was studied well.

Bicycle ride from Oshkosh to Fisk

Definitely interested in this! Now you have me wanting to bring my road bike and my Oshkosh bike. :D

    V-Tail gear-up at DVT

Same here, minus the hand slapping. Ken Kellogg (RIP, sir) was as old school as they come (worked for Beech for a long time, flying Twin Beeches and a bunch of other fun stuff). He drilled it into me to do no configuration changes unless we were either stopped, off the runway, or slowed down...

    What are you shopping for?

I think I'll likely pick up some sort of aviation transceiver, such as an icom. Any particular recommendations?

Oshkosh, how many years you been going?
