    Using Old Logbook for Endorsements?

When my "blank end of the book" pages get filled with endorsements, that does not happen often anymore, I just start working backwards into the normal "logging" pages until I run out of empty pages. Then buy a new book. If your instructor cannot follow the guidance in AC 61-65H and needs to have...

Another aircraft company sold to China...

So you are forced to buy from their other companies that they do support. First Rule of Business, put your competitor out of business. Easiest way is to just buy them out.

    [NA] Toyota Tundras

I've owned a 2007 5.7L V8 Tundra since new, 2nd Gen, 220K miles, no issues, but I'm ready to replace it. The paint after 13 years in the Desert Southwest has taken a hit. I've not heard good things about the 3rd Gen Tundras with the V6 turbo. Sure they may have the power, but the software...

    1980 TR182 Nose Wheel Shimmy

Landing a little faster than normal in a C182, most likely the nose wheel touched first compounding the problem. Landing in a wind, especially a crosswind, full flaps don't help. Best landings in a crosswind with the C182 is about the 20 degree flap setting. From the POH "when landing in a...

    Diamond aspires to be Boeing.

Sorry, I had to laugh when the F0X5 article said there could be issues with decompression and blown out ear drums from losing a door at altitude. A DA40 is NOT pressurized to have any decompression issues. Never trust any news report.

    Straight ahead....

200ft AGL is not always the magic number. On high Density Altitude days, you may have barely cleared the trees at the end of the runway on climb out. At 200ft you may be a half mile or more from the end of the runway. I've done more than my fair share of training rope or tow failures at 200ft...

Gave an old timer a ride today

I teach teenagers to fly motorless aircraft. They can solo at 14, but need to be 16 to fly with a motor. The fact that I am nearing the 1/2 century mark peaks their interest. Maybe we should listen to this old guy. Then they ask what I have flown, that really gets their attention.

    Retirement Gig

Thanks Dave! I was a member of Las Vegas Valley Soaring Assoc in Nevada. As a club member, I donated a lot of my time instructing, towing, and filling club offices. Retired, moved to New England, donating my time to Greater Boston Soaring Association, instructing, towing, tow plane maintenance...

    Conducting Flyovers for Compensation

Minimum altitude rules per 14CFR 91.119(b) may apply. Anything less that that you would probably want a waiver from the local FSDO. Key is "open air assembly of persons", no quantity specified, very subjective by those enforcing the CFR.

Which way to install motor mount bolts.

Looking at the PA-25, from memory, the bolt heads were on the cabin side of the firewall and nuts forward. No space to put a torque wrench to the bolts inside the fuselage and manipulate it. Looking at the PA-25 Service Manual, it does not specify other than bolt size about fastening the engine...

Filing and flying IFR without Instrument Rating

More than likely.... perhaps reach out to your local non govt FAA Safety Team Rep first? FAASTeam, or speak to his instructor?

Route suggestions for CA to NC helicopter XC

I'd go south to Bakersfield, through the pass at Tehachapi, south around the Edwards Airspace, Lancaster to Victorville (Rte138 & Rte 18 Pearblossom Hwy) then follow I-15 to Barstow, then I-40 through AZ and NM. Getting into Texas, the terrain will stop being an issue.

I would say that was fortunate, not unfortunate, that he slung himself off the snowy road. He removed himself from the potential of harming another person.
