    Minimum Oil Level

He is adding a quart every 2 hrs because anything above 10.5 qts in the O-540 gets blown out the crankcase vent. He's just ****ing away oil at $8.33/qt

Sumping fuel in the desert/preflight checklists?

Sounds like an older Cherokee 6. I'd have to find my old checklist, but I think draining each tank for a minute, move fuel selector, drain again, was the key to the 6.

    Do's and don'ts

I would be asking why the school is dispensing drugs without a prescription. Are they now doctors and pharmacists?

Pvt Pilot as Passenger local day Part 91 Sightseeing Flt (not 135). Gets to fly and logs it all PIC?

Your "Student" agrees with you because he is a freshly minted Private Pilot and does not know any better. Plus as you are his Instrument instructor, he knows he better agree with you or life with you as an instructor and any future in the club would be pure "****".

Taxi, not fly an acft for an annual.

You bought it, saved the insurance company the pain of moving and storing the aircraft and then trying to auction it off. He's gonna play nice with you.

    ADS-B Traffic Lag

Are you sure while on the ground that your iPad was connected to the Stratus and not Internet? Internet traffic is delayed. Interesting that what you perceived as traffic you perceived as "10 miles" out talking to tower had landing clearances. Was tower not busy? I've gotten landing clearances...

    Sim instrument currency documentation

I keep my approved SIM activity in my regular logbook. I do not use FF logging. I do enter the flights along with all of my flights into LogBookPro which tracks my currency and can track the BATD activity.

BED, check your overnight tie down expense. Bring Prop Chain and padlock. Expect to need a padlock on your chain tail tie down. Expect to be escorted to/from your aircraft. Check Beverly (KBVY), Lawrence (KLWM) and Norwood (KOWD) for options. BED is a busy corporate jet airport.

Altitude Directives in VFR Flight Following

It is easier to hold a jump plane down, then vector a string of aircraft being sequenced for an approach.

Altitude Directives in VFR Flight Following

I had flight following one time where the controller kept changing my altitude for other traffic that he was not talking to. It was a hazy day so I followed his lead. That traffic kept turning and changing altitude, so it must have been a training flight. Drove us both crazy until I got past it...

During summer months we consistently saw about 215F Oil temp in full power glider tow operations. The O-540 was configured with two oil coolers for this operation.

    Done . . .

I did that for a flight school owner. We used his T-41B that he kept on the schools roster and rented it out. We took it from the Southwest to Maine and back, and to Alaska and back. I was referred to as "his seeing eye pilot". Yes, I had "skin in the game", he was responsible for the cost of...

If you ever plan to intentionally "stop the prop" always be in a position to complete the dead stick landing on an airport runway.
