    Found my old key fob.

Worked for Intel back in the day, I had a key fob that worked well (as a key fob) until a parking lot operator lost it at SEA decades ago. At least they didn't lose the key.

Our12th wedding anniversary. First flight lesson was about 15 years later.

..I had a gear up landing - and my first declaration

Good job, everyone walked away from it. My belief and action in a similar situation would be quite simple. Once the airplane failed me (and this one failed you) the insurance company owns it and all I care about is my passengers and me walking away from it after it stops moving. You did quite...

Flaps and Carb Heat on Landing Rollout

Back when the club had an Arrow (along with a C-172 and C-182) I had to remind myself which one I was flying. At least, between the C-172 and the C-182. The Arrow was its own set of problems. Confusing the flaps and gear was NOT one of them. As noted, the flaps in the Arrow were operated by...

    Fireworks gone wrong

I asked our son-in-law if everything we saw was "legal" or if some folks had gone to a fireworks stand on the other side of the state called the "Ill Eagle" fireworks stand? He just smiled.

    Tesla Model 3 - Finally.

Nice! I haven't seen anything like that, but given the hill I have to climb to get out of our neighborhood, that isn't surprising. We did get over 44 mpg coming back from eastern Washington a couple weeks ago (better than the estimated 44 mpg in town according to the sticker) and finally...

    Any Hunters in Here?

The M14 and M60 were indeed chambered for 7.62 mm NATO ammo. .308 is the same round. My deer rifle (purchased more decades ago than I want to admit) is a Savage 110CL in .30-06. That's a left handed bolt gun. The Winchester 70 and Remington 700 were not (and, to my knowledge are still not)...

    [NA] Biometric pistol safe

Two safes in our house. The main one is a full fledged gun safe that uses a combination lock. My son and I know the combination, I doubt that my wife does. He uses the same combination for his safe (not in the same town). The second one is on my nightstand. It is fastened down with...

    You know you’re getting old….

Try over 40. You're just a kid. HS class of 70 (and we're having our 50th anniversary reunion 2 years late (this coming weekend) because of Covid-19. Gee, we just got home from 2 weeks at Margaritaville in St. Thomas. Lowest price I remember seeing was .199 a gallon. I worked for MM...

    Goodbye KRHV Reid Hillview

Those left wing fools have been trying to close RHV for decades. When I lived in San Jose (left there in 1995) they were trying to close it for other reasons (the old familiar noise complaints, etc). Keep fighting the good fight.

Anyone ever fly into the Willow Run Airshow?

I kept looking at this and read "Willow Run" as the name of a B-24 that was built there during WWII - "Willit Run". :p

How to solve the US pilot shortage

That's nothing new. I never looked at a flying job (or flying - period) when I first got out of college. A fresh BSEE earned far more. Of course, now nobody would even consider me, I'm 70. :-) And I have the best job I've ever had - I'm retired.

    Electronic pilot log books

Call me paranoid if you want, but having worked for computer manufacturers in the past I use three different log books that I keep up to date. MFB is great, and I use it. I also keep an Excel spreadsheet on my laptop up to date. Add to that a paper logbook. I can see one of the three failing...

    Flight Bag Pireps

I've got (and use) a Sporty's bag that I've had for a bit over 20 years. Works fine for me. Good suggestion about using a range bag. I'd need a second one as my range bag is full of range stuff. Being an NRA RSO tends to do that. :-) However, the Sporty's bag seems to be holding up well...

What is your daily use car

Well, 7 years later, an update. That 2013 Ford Escape met its demise early last October. Fortunately, it had air bags. We replaced it with a new 2021 Ford Escape Hybrid. More safety features in the 2021 version. Gets better fuel economy, too. That Jeep Wrangler still sits in our driveway...

Your complaint that you could teach these courses sounds like me talking to my boss every year when getting him to pay for my attendance at the IEEE International Symposium on EMC. We were required by our employer to get training each year and he would suggest taking classes from consultants...
