PPR and Landing Fee Nonsense Again in Vegas for Superbowl

Agree mostly, but I would say there IS some elasticity in that there are folks in this thread saying "I won't go at that price". Yet, the ramps will be chock-a-block with planes, so it seems like they are charging the correct price, or potentially still undercharging. I wish that more things...

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

Great report. Before you pulled the big wires, you should have added a 30A 240V circuit with #10 wire and put one of these in the garage. Totally transforms the "working in the garage" paradigm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XOZN7A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Will your heirs even want your logbooks?

Be aware that it might skip too. My grandad (maternal) flew the P38 Lighting in WW2. None of his 5 kids became pilots, but one of his grandkids (me) did, but not until after he passed (he died in 94 and I started flying in 2012). LUCKILY, one of my uncles kept his logbooks and is going to...

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

why settle. Just take on a few more consulting gigs and get this https://www.mbusa.com/en/vehicles/class/eqs/suv Or the Rivian SUV is 3 row as well. We have friends with one and they love it

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

Not really needed in your case, but someone on a thread was showing a plug in piggy back for a dryer that would automatically not charge the car while the other plug is demanding power. You could get one of those if you really want to make it foolproof. As I get a few years on me, I am...

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

One note, I would say if they say don't "routinely" charge over 80%, the exception is road trips. Go ahead and charge to 100% before leaving home, and at each overnight stop. The few times you do this shouldn't hurt the battery pack in any real way. They're just saying don't charge to 100%...

Thinking about an EV (nvm, bought one)

Eddie, if at one of your stops, say the Fort Valley one, you only "need" 16 minutes, but you end up shopping for 25 and leave with a higher than planned charge, does the software automatically revise the rest of the trip to either eliminate a stop or change them (location/duration)?

Electric 4 seater made by Hyundai

But, would it need to be "hundreds of dollars" if it's electric and hops back and forth between two spots? For example, North Seattle to the Microsoft campus in Redmond? 1 hour drive or 10 minute flight and the thing could just go back and forth for 2 hours in the AM and two hours in the...

Yet another I hate modern cars rant

Cowman, I hear you. I'm torn. I think if your entire life is on script, the new cars are nice (you only drive on normal roads). If you "live a life" and drive on the grass, etc, the engineers never really designed for that because you're 2% of the market. Love our 2015 Mercedes GL450 for...

Why do people leave bags and not throw them away?

sociopaths. Same as any litter, like, put your garbage in the garbage, and generally, make the world a better place (ie, it's OK to pick up a few items that AREN'T yours and throw them out).

    Best bang for your buck

Thanks Andrew. You'd want to work with a real viking expert. I do know there are a few owners on the board, including @bradg33 I know a couple of folks who've owned them and find them to be fantastic traveling airplanes at a really good price if you know what you're looking for.

    Best bang for your buck

Under 100k makes it a little tough. Maybe a Viking? Would give you a chance to build a lot of complex time if you're looking for a traveling plane and want to log some hours.

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

Honestly, I wasn’t trolling, but I was glad to see some reflection later in the thread where there is acknowledged level of difficulty driven by avionics that were exacerbated by lack of prep, lack of training, etc of the pilot in question. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

Not to nitpick, but your second sentence is true. Your first sentence is objectively false, in this case. Though it may be “not hard to use” in most cases, in this case, it possibly was Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

I guess the counter evidence is two dead pilots in this thread? Clearly over reliance on hard to use automation did not help her. In my case, it felt like learning the gns was more difficult than the actual ifr theory so I quit. I don’t want to spent precious hours and dollars mastering how...

Youtube Pilot and her dad perish in TN

Agreed except I wouldn’t waste instruction and flight time on the 430. I’d throw it in a ditch and replace it with something useful AFTER getting basic flying down. I don’t see why a newer pilot with a plane would spend time learning GNS and building experience there. If you’re old and used to...
