Cheapest way to build retract time

Funny you mention that! I just saw one for $25k on TAP. I wonder if I'd fit (I'm 6'3")

Cheapest way to build retract time

It's a fantastic group in our club, but they are laser set on fixed wing Cessna 100 series planes.

Cheapest way to build retract time

Thanks, and I should have clarified that when I said "cheapest", it was meant in terms of sole ownership. I'm in a club, which besides not flying, is the cheapest way. The issue is that there's almost no retract availability here. You have a big A36 I think, which would be a great plane...

Cheapest way to build retract time

230 hours ASEL (all C172/182) Family of 4 Currently in a club with the C172s/182 I want to build retract time and have some fun while I position myself to buy the twin in a few years (after I have more $$, am more insurable, and have more time for flying) I think it would be fun (and pretty...

Long XC advice: Washington <> California

Hi! You're getting some great advice from folks that have run up and down I5. I'm from KLS but up in Seattle now. Hope to see you around the airport when I'm home next time.

Best plane for first time plane owner?

I guess I would challenge you to consider maybe an E series Bonanza for $70K and have 60k available for mx and increased insurance. Seems like it would be a great plane for two folks to travel and you'd get retract and complex time.

    Henning gone west

If I'd known he was so close, I think I would have popped by to visit him in person. I had a couple of PM conversations with him and appreciated his thinking.

[N/A] What's your blood type and how is your relationship with Mosquitos?

Yep, I try to donate every two months when eligible, but stuff comes up, so I end up at 3-4 times a year, so it's easy to remember. Huge blood shortages folks, go donate if you can, it's easy and feels good.

Three brothers with no PPL considering purchasing a plane

Good discussion, depending on the eventual missions and sizes of each family, maybe an older Bonanza would be a decent option. Good examples around that aren’t tough to fly and are good travelers once your past training. Probably don’t want to have people in them their first 20 hours, but see if...

The end of flying as we know it??

Well, I'm on Mercer Island, across Lake Washington from KRNT. They USED to allow people to jet ski up to the airport, but no beuno now with security in 2024. However, an aircraft could get clearance to land and taxi to parking.

The end of flying as we know it??

This thing would be great to get from my house to the airport. 1.1 airmiles, our 40 minutes in the car...

What and who can be covered as "additional insured" on aircraft policy?

Thanks, not to drift too far, but I think that hull coverage is poor odds for some of us and I'd only buy insurance enough to satisfy the airport so I could base there, it's been mentioned that hangar keeper's will sometimes keep the airport happy, and it's MUCH less than the 5-6K/year in insurance.

What and who can be covered as "additional insured" on aircraft policy?

I'm very curious about this. In your experience, will Hangar Keeper's insurance, purchased by the airplane owner, typically satisfy the airport lease requirement?

Portable CPAP: What to do with it?

Honestly, it's not that big of a deal to program it, it's much easier than a NAV in a GA airplane to set the limits/ramp/etc. My machine is pretty new, but I consider getting one of those in this thread for my folks house, as it lets me travel lighter. If someone wants to sell one, PM me...

    34, feeling lost, lonely

I wouldn't try to meet women. I would get a good group of buddies going first, then you'll have the confidence and ease to attract some great gals.

    34, feeling lost, lonely

Friendships take work, and you're right that being non desperate is helpful. Figure out a couple of hobbies you enjoy. Flying seems to be one, so go to fly ins, join the local EAA chapter, etc. Find one other hobby (doesn't have to be a million hobbies). This could be disc golf, 4x4'ing...

If you own a truck and live in the rust belt.

Are you coating inside the rockers with "inside the frame" paint? Adding any fluid film in there? I'll be doing that to my rigs as extra protection, just spend entirely too much money on new sheet metal!

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

Sunriver is pretty awesome. People can stay in VRBO houses or the hotel. As long as a few folks got rental cars, we'd be good (or a few locals attended). S21 https://www.sunriverfbo.com/ I'd make that. 2 hours in a 172 from Seattle and not rediculous for California/AZ/etc folks.

    Why haven't you been to a POA fly-in ?

AND, I happen to know that Gary is a really nice guy in person who's easy to be around. Give yourself a chance Gary, sorry I haven't been back down to CA in a few years, I haven't had time to fly much.
