Things to ponder? when a A&P says this aircraft is unairworthy aren't they says it isn't safe to fly. in that content Airworthy has another meaning. Airworthy is simply a paper work thing. Safe to fly is safety thing.

"Airworthy" and "safe to fly" are not the same.

When a IA does that, they best insure that they can document the why. The annual S/O is proof that the A/C was airworthy. Then it becomes a Pizzing Contest of who said what.

Limiting liability when the Owner is working under supervision. How would you sign off a log book entry for work preformed, when you are indicating the owner did the work? We know the FAAs views on this. what is the insurance/courts views.?

For sure? but that is why we are seeing the 65/85 updated to the 0-200 cranks, rods, and cylinders. the repairs of the case, and accessory case are having hard time finding parts. Trouble is, no one thought the accessory cases,and oil pump gears would wear out.
