Did not know about ADHD restrictions when I got my medical. What do I do?

IMO, the ironic and big point completely missed by all the "haters" who mock people complaining about the HIMS process and mock the inconvenient fact the people (surprise, surprise) lie on their applications to get class 1-3 medical certs, is those being honest and upfront about their situation...

Did not know about ADHD restrictions when I got my medical. What do I do?

Yes, I’m ****ed that I’m working the system with 100% transparency and grounded and people with far more dangerous health issues, and not disclosing them, are flying right now. I think that’s a legitimate anger/frustration. IF the FAA TRULY cared about safety, then yes. Unfortunately it was...

Did not know about ADHD restrictions when I got my medical. What do I do?

I don’t like the idea either, but if no one on this forum is lying, then nothing to worry about, right? It would certainly put every applicant on a level playing field with no way to “skirt” the system, as some put it here.

Did not know about ADHD restrictions when I got my medical. What do I do?

Your exact quote: mryan75: “This has nothing to do with the subject at hand, however the most brilliant human being I know (and it’s not even close) has a severe psychiatric condition. Major, major case of bipolar disorder. You wouldn’t even know it talking to him. He is in good medical care...

I’m not even going to bother if my point is going over your head. Have a good evening.

    Take instrument checkride without medical?

Agreed, that's the conclusion I've come to as well.

    Take instrument checkride without medical?

That's the conclusion I've come to...it's possible to make this accommodation. It's unlikely that you will find a DPE, however, that will make the accommodation.

Did not know about ADHD restrictions when I got my medical. What do I do?

I think it would be extremely naive to believe stuff like this isn't happening already. If I'm reading about pilots that are actively flying without even a license, let alone any sort of medical, it's safe to say that people aren't being truthful about their situation on medical applications...

    Take instrument checkride without medical?

Apparently you missed when I said: The question is can I do a check ride for IFR with the DPE acting legally as PIC even though I’m “PIC” as sole manipulator of controls. I’m leaning towards no, I'm seeing arguments for yes, but it’s not “recommended” by the FAA. I called AOPA and they even...

    Take instrument checkride without medical?

That's definitely what it feels like sometimes. Hyperbolic example: Thread comment: UTLonghorn_1979: Man, this HIMS deferral process is a whip! Seems like there has to be a better way to manage this process, right?! Random POA Responder: Got to hell, you go to hell and you die!

    Take instrument checkride without medical?

Sarcasm is hilarious. I already had a class 3, expired prior to 2006, so didn’t have option for basic med. Looks like I could have gone the sports pilot route, but didn’t think road would be as long or difficult to get class 3 back. I started flying again after a 20 year hiatus…got married...

    Take instrument checkride without medical?

Legally/regulatory able and demonstrably able are two different things. I was signed off to take written. After passing written and working to schedule the practical, I ran into medical issues with the FAA. Some threads, and even AOPA, said it’s a grey area. If you can find a DPE to agree to...

    Take instrument checkride without medical?

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like the answer is, no. As stated in other threads, I can keep flying/getting dual time and logging "PIC" time but not acting, in the legal sense, as the PIC. I'm not excited about likely having to take the IFR written again, and after I've already taken it...

    Take instrument checkride without medical?

Thank you. That seems to be the only "official" ruling that I can find as well. Guess I just need to find a DPE that shares that view.

Please show FAA regs showing such.

FAA finally gets path 1 back on track

Good question. I'm donating to AOPA, writing my representative/congressmen, meeting with pilots flying for airlines that have gone through the same process, but that have union help/more governmental influence to show the brokenness of the system, and bringing attention to people like yourself...

FAA finally gets path 1 back on track

The above is a very oddly constructed sentence, so I'm still not sure what you're saying other than demonstrating that they are operating as is normal for the FAA. I.e. SNAFU.
