Knew another guy who had a Super Chipmonk who peed in a plastic ziploc baggie on a trip and set it under his seat. You can guess. He forgot about it, and it sat in the airplane for several months. He found it one hot July day doing aerobatics when it burst all over him. You...

I may have to someday pack extra piddle packs, or I may need to make shorter trip legs and land more often, and I will almost certainly embarrass myself in some fashion or other, but I think I can safely guarantee that I will never be so old that I am forced to pee in my shoe. :D

He was a very old dude, and apparently he didn't want to wet his pants or pee on the carpeting, and couldn't, er, make it work out the little side window (Piper). ;) But yeah. Nasty. Especially when he shrugged and put his shoe back on like "What ya gonna do?" :nonod:

Wait, back to this. He just peed on the baggage compartment floor assuming it would then just leak out? 1. Eew. 2. Not in MY planes. 3. What a sticky, stinky, acidic thing to do in an airplane. 4. Knew a guy once who peed in his shoe on a trip, tried to pour it out the side window...

    Garmin Pilot vs Foreflight

I used ForeFlight on an iPad for two years, then moved to Garmin Pilot for the last several years on the iPad. We have a lot of Garmin products in various airplanes, so we got the GDL-39 to use with GP software. I also downloaded my "free to CFIs" WingX Pro on the iPad. I like how Garmin Pilot...

I don't think so if loaded and flown properly. At least I've not met a light twin yet that was definitely going to crash and kill all on board if loaded lightly/properly and handled properly when it ate one. Of course any pilot can screw up and botch an emergency, (single or multi-engine)...

I hate that saying. If you load it and fly it properly, that's simply not true.

How many first flights (or other aviation activities) did it take...?

My first flight was age 7. Swore then that I would be a pilot. Saved money, started taking lessons at 19. Rinse, repeat. :)

All me, working 3 jobs and going to college part time.

    Sport Pilot

We have quite a few 6'3" and 6'4" guys flying around in the J-3 Cub, Champ, and T-craft. Tailwheel endorsement required, of course, but options.

Took a kid up for his first flight; disappointed.

I just wanted to add that I do a summer flying program for 14-18 year old kids, and a BUNCH of them are dead quiet, hard to get to talk, shy, the whole ball of wax. Then they get on the ground and they talk to their friends and they don't stop talking about it. So I heard later, since they...

    Eair Pain / Pressure Relief

My daughter has narrow tubes and has occasionally had that trouble. Once I asked ATC for a slow, 200 fpm rate descent for passenger comfort, they asked if I needed to declare an emergency, I said no, as long as they didn't mind if I had a slow rate of descent, they didn't, no problem...

Is it bad advice to turn your passion into a career?

For some people, yes, it is a bad idea to turn your passion into a career. For others it isn't. The only one that can answer that for you is you. I know several professional pilots who burned out on it, on the less-than-pleasant aspects of their flying careers. I've been a professional pilot for...

Flight school plane with other instructor

As another FBO operator here... If someone comes to us and asks us about using their favorite personal CFI that isn't on our "roster", we'll almost always take the steps to make that CFI covered on our insurance policy and let them go for it. It doesn't happen often, but it has, just again this...

    iPad vs. Nexus 7

Different strokes for different folks--I've flown with an iPad, an iPad Mini, and the Google Nexus. I like the iPad. I like the size, I like being able to read it without zooming, and Garmin Pilot works better on the iPad than it does the Nexus. The Android updates are always about 6 months...

    Girl-friend is interested in flying

My husband and I are both pilots, and we both like that we share this interest. Whoever is more current in the conditions/airplane can be PIC on whatever family trips we take, when there is inclement weather, two sets of heads and eyes and experiences can confer, and if one is under the weather...

    Flying w/ Music

Depends on the set-up you have. On a couple of Garmin intercoms, you can't disable the mute. I have this in two airplanes, and I hate this. On others, you can disable the mute-when-they-talk function. I can drive a car and talk and have music on in the background, and I can fly and talk and...

    What is an Air Boss?

Particularly in Waivered Airspace, like at air shows, the Air Boss is in control of the airspace, is responsible to the FAA for the waiver and all activities within the space, ground, and air. My spouse is Air Boss for several shows in Indiana. It's a lot of work, filing the waiver, dealing...

What kind of spider is this?

Oh God, I so regret coming here. I need to go to a happy place and think about happy things. Fast. :nonod:
