What do you check when short turnaround flights?

Thanks, just theoretical, I don’t have PPL yet. And we can shorten it say to 1/2 hour each leg, I was mainly interested in what pilots would check in between each. And some great responses. It’s enlightening.

What do you check when short turnaround flights?

Just as an example. Say a situation where you are taking your extended family to a resort. You have a four seater, and eight people to get up there. Of course you take up a seat too, so this means minimum three round trips. Say a two hour flight each way. So you fly three passengers to the...

    Magnetic north and the media

I think that must be what they meant, the blue cone of direction would be off some. But GPS would work. They just wrote so badly it wasn’t named.

    Magnetic north and the media

Though I don’t trust the article, because badly written, it mentions it is pole, not poles. South Pole seems to still be stable.

    Magnetic north and the media

I’m totally open to being wrong here, but read in a Norwegian newspaper a very badly written story (usually the newspaper “Aftenposten” is one of the serious newspapers here) about how magnetic north is shifting at a much faster rate the last two decades. They mentioned this causing problems...

    Flight Sim for student

Actually, just my own experience, sims did seem to easily lead to instrument fixation, but when I started flying my instructor hammered in getting the sight picture. I had to play a little with the seat height and angle on the sim, for sight picture, but also knowing it is a no no to fixate, I...

    Flight Sim for student

ok. I stand corrected. I feel the same. Of course there is no feedback on stick and rudder, but even there salty mentioned using it to help a stick and rudder input problem. They try and make the yokes want to center, but yeah, it’s not realistic and all are pretty clear on that. We all figure...

    That alone is pretty cool!

    Flight Sim for student

No one was suggesting it to me. It was on some website. Don’t get hung up on the banana. (That last is free for anyone to use for their POA signature!) Point is still valid, IF it was always suggested students did armchair flying then sims are a few steps up from that and must be just as valid...

    Flight Sim for student

I don’t know if others experience this but (not that I’m saying real life flying is easy) to me it is a good deal more difficult to land, navigate VFR, etc. in a flight sim than actually doing it. I know at least one experienced pilot that has said the same thing. Maybe it is better also...
