Got an email yesterday about a memorial gathering for the deceased from the local flight school, one of them was the head flight instructor at Appleton..

Brittain autopilot, how does it work?

Tried that first, previous owner said he never used it and didn't know. Tried to dig deeper to the owner before that and found he's 6 feet under, so that's a dead end. (Is that enough puns? :D)

Brittain autopilot, how does it work?

DG - Nothing fancy, no heading bug. Attitude indicator does have a roll trim knob. Weather looks good on Saturday so I should be able to go out and play with it.

Brittain autopilot, how does it work?

Thanks, I'll try turning it on while banked and see what happens. I was playing with it trimmed out straight and level and couldn't tell anything, never thought to turn it on while in a turn. Been reading on Mooneyspace all morning trying to get more info too. DME, interesting! I tested the...

Brittain autopilot, how does it work?

I've never used or even flown in anything with an autopilot before, so bear with me. I've got a Brittain Nav Flite II autopilot. No idea if it works or not, but I did verify all the servos are at least installed and hooked up so I'd like to at least give it a shot. Previous owner of 20 years...

    Thoughts on Lake Buccaneer?

You're pretty close to Wisconsin Rapids, Wings Air has a Buccaneer there you can get dual instruction in to see if its for you. If you think you want one now it gets really bad after your first water landing. :D Some insurance companies will save a few bucks before you get your SES rating and...

Student wants advice to end up flying a high performance 6 seater safely

IF you can find an insurance company to insure you in your dream aircraft at this point they're going to require plenty of dual instruction time in the aircraft you buy to get your HP/Complex endorsement.

"Fly the Cherokee", he said ..... Or: I learned an important lesson.

My heater sucks, so I wear a snow suit in winter :D Its actually pretty comfortable. Beats trying to guess the appropriate amount of layers to wear.

    Cold calling airplane owners

I had it happen about 2 weeks ago. Previous owner of my plane from back in the late 50's/early 60's. Sent me a picture of it from back in the day. Talked to him for a little bit, told him it can be for sale if he's interested but haven't heard back. Think he just wanted to talk. Apparently...

    Non-traditional Thanksgiving?

Land at KORD? I'll probably be flying around the pattern at KMTW in the morning if you want to come and shoot past me like I'm standing still again :)

    I love retractable gear airplanes

I too prefer retracts. Mine only retracts two wheels though, so its a bargain at 33% off!

    How tight is too tight?

Already have the hangar and just got it fixed up all nice a few years back..

    How tight is too tight?

Hmmm.... Might work until the county snowplow takes it out in December! I've got wheel dollies (not as fancy as those jacks) for a car, its a pain in the butt trying to roll it very far on the tiny casters.

    How tight is too tight?

Not much. Hangar is 40x40. Really don't want to try and get a different hangar either, I like mine!

    How tight is too tight?

Channels on the floor are a good idea! I thought about painting lines but that's even better.

    How tight is too tight?

For you guys used to putting large units in small boxes.. How tight is too tight? Hangar door opening of 38' 6", looking at a Lake Amphib with a listed wingspan of 38'. Is that just asking for hangar rash?

    OSH 2020 - don't see it happening

Reading the state's reopening guidelines, I think we'll be lucky if they allow groups of 10 by the end of July.
