    Would you have declared?

When I declared mine, Reid cleared me for an immediate landing and held departing traffic. There was never ANY contact with FSDO or NTSB, and the ATC "paperwork" consisted of Ops driving by as I was tying down and asking where the flight had originated from. That's it.

    Short field landing pattern size

I did. I ignored his instruction to ignore him.

    Short field landing pattern size

Touching down short of the runway could be pretty bad....

    Would you have declared?

Agreed. Furthermore, returning to San Jose was foolish. A precautionary landing at Concord was called for. In-flight fires suck. Not only would I declare with a possible indication of something serious, i did just that. Fluctuating oil pressure that was "most likely" an indication problem...

    KLGB this weekend

No, it just means it didn't get reported. There was no violation, so no Brasher warning would be expected. I've had departing traffic turn crosswind early, directly into my path, as I started to enter downwind (per tower instructions), close enough that I had to dive, apply full power, and turn...

    Short field landing pattern size

What you do above obstacle height doesn't matter much. Below obstacle height, you want to be on speed, power off, full flap, and stabilized. If you need a big pattern to do that, do it. If you don't, don't. Note, there is a conflicting technique that says to approach slow and drag it in...

    G1000 Question - Beeping Noise

The GFC700 doesn't have the baro beep, but it does have the other two. It also beeps when you're 200 feet off your altitude bug. Which sucks if you set the alt bug for TPA and you descend to land. What the GFC700 does much better than the KAP140 is GPS coupled altitude. But the VNAV...

Use your DG. It will also help you identify single-runway airports. The only problem I had at LGB was figuring out how to do a left downwind entry for 30 from the LA river (it's the wrong side of the airport). I'm not sure Tower understood where I was. In fact, I know they didn't because they...

    Scared of my instructor

I think a few people have missed that this is not primary training. It's INSTRUMENT training. The OP knows how to fly a plane. And just about every one of us has lost confidence late in the game, due to mind-games. Heck, flying by reference to instruments is FULL of mind-games, and much of...

Why are people afraid of Class B?

I've certainly seen that in action. I've gone so far as to take the occasional new pilot through the SFO B to show how little there really is to it. But, I do hear extra orifices being ripped over Class B busts on the radio almost every nice weekend. Occasionally (but not usually) with a...

Stewart, New York’s Other International Airport

No, not true. Edwards was a primary landing site, and Vandenberg and White Sands were always available as backups. There are several abort landing sites along the East Coast, none of them Stewart.

    Now it's just a not-equals sign.

    Scared of my instructor

No, it isn't. And your advice is basically to pack it up and go home now. I would think an attempt to solve the problem first would be in order. And perhaps a bit of analysis. Do you not see the passivity in this post? A student can set bounds short of just giving up.

    Scared of my instructor

That's not evident. Too much extrapolation, and your advice is to trade a potential failure for a certain one. I'm also seeing a glaring communication problem. English is obviously not the first language, and while it's pretty good, demeanor and tone are much easier to misunderstand than words...

So somebody is trying to serve me....

Then, when the court asks what your "foundation" is, you tell them you're not trained. It's true, right? If what you say is true, that will get you objected right off the stand. You can't be an expert witness if you have no expertise. Beyond that, be rigorously truthful. If that gets you on...

Yikes, that lake is BUTT COLD. No swimming, at least not for very long.

All you've mentioned looks on its surface like a basic unfamiliarity with Class C. Unless you correct that, your post is a waste of electrons.

Posting your intent on a public forum would make a pretty good base.

That you had a problem. What exactly was it? CD instructions are usually things like a single heading and/or altitude restriction, far less than a full-blown clearance. They do want to hear you have ATIS. Under a minute unless you play 20 questions. Heck, it's not much more than that IFR.
