    Going to learn tail wheel

I won't waste time on my learning successes thus far, but I will point out my major challenge... "Landing planning" (wheel or 3 point & what is the wind doing?) while in the pattern and executing that plan. I know I know you veterans "don't think" about rudder and aileron inputs because you...

    Ever have those frustrating days?

I just started tailwheel training... no I have never had a frustrating day where I felt like I was the dumbest pilot ever to grace the face of the earth... nope, that has never happened to me even when the instructor saves the day about 1 out of every 7 landings...; ) We are human, and we suck...

    Going to learn tail wheel

Taking the plunge now... just bought a Husky and learning the art of safe/effective tailwheel flying. It is a blast when things are done right. There is a lot to learn.

Who here sassed the controller at Sun and Fun?

It is 2021 folks... questioning Authority seems to be the trend. Sick of it. If I were the FAA, I would take another looksie at this guy's Medical.

First airplane camping and cooking in Wisconsin 2021

This is exactly what I want to do soon... I just sold my fabulous plane and am in the process of buying a plane built for landing on grass strips, etc. Cannot wait. I can't even make ice, so I guess I have to bring a chef with me.

    Sun N FUn

I spent 2 full days there. Had a blast. Sitting under a C47 wing (I don't tan) and watching a Baron perform loops and land with the engines turned off is about as awesome a stunt as i have ever seen. Not to mention a Mustang and all the other war bird flybys... breathtaking. Airplane fan or...

Another screwed by someone elses mechanics thread

You are absolutely correct. No to little to no "AOG" drills... heaven for the engineers. Saw a pic of the fan blade... yikes.

Another screwed by someone elses mechanics thread

I'll help you through this o crabby one... Pratt is Boeing's Supplier. Boeing designed the nacelle specs, electrical connections, engine mount specs and fuel plumbing to accept the Pratt engines onto the Boeing planes. And, Boeing bought the engines (oftentimes the engines are sold/leased...

Another screwed by someone elses mechanics thread

Imagine the poor engineers at Pratt/Boeing about right now... 2 engine failures on the same day. No one was killed, but there will be $gabillions spent on who's fault it is and why...

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

Litigation is unbelievably frustrating. Takes forever, costs a lot... and, this is the hard part, the opposing parties (most of them) lie through their teeth. This poor Buyer ended up with the second worst outcome possible. The first? to have gone flying with his friends and family in the...

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

No matter where anybody lives... or which option he chooses, the poor airplane buyer is out a bunch of cash and good for him for posting as a cautionary tale for many future airplane buyer pilots. I know I learned a ton on this thread.

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

35% of a $40-60k cash recovery ? And you believe you are in and done with court within 18 months ? Venezuela must be nice this time of year... ; )... point is, there isn’t enough upside to attract a decent contingency lawyer beyond threatening legal letters... which are ineffective. No...

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

The real world brother. This case is about who is at fault involving multiple people, including the Buyer. Complex? PM me, I would like to discuss with you what complex commercial cases you have litigated in under $100k in legal fees... According to the popular airplane sales sites, a PA 160...

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

You will get your money back. The problem is, it will take 2-5 years and about $100k in legal fees before there is a settlement. You hope there is a settlement because trial costs are an additional cost. With all due respect, there is an incredible amount of information online about older...

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

Re attorneys, from a business person's perspective... first of all, God bless 'em. Secondly, the "value of this case" is low. Meaning, it will be tough to attract a solid attorney who will work on contingency (i.e. no Cash payments to the attorney, rather the attorney takes a cut of the...

Disastrous First (and Last) Annual - Advice Needed

I would say that were extremely Un-Lucky... and LUCKY to have found these issues. Sure it sucks from a $ perspective, but better the issues were found on the ground. I hope this cautionary tale sparks some headliner removals and the usage of tons of flashlight batteries... good work on sharing...
